Honest Review of the UMGC Master's in Data Analytics Program

I'm glad you shared your positive story. We don't have enough of those. I also took some classes for my undergrad at UMGC (I was living in South Korea so it was a good American schooling option before I eventually graduated somewhere else) and I've recently started doing my master's degree at UMGC as well. I've worked as a Legislative Analyst for a city council member, as a Legislative Aide for a State Senator, and I'm currently the Deputy Director of an entire city department where I live and make six figures, and that's all with UMGC as a large part of my education. Nobody has ever doubted the credibility of my education and I'm a huge proponent of the destigmatization of online schooling, and UMGC has been an overall very positive experience that has only helped me be able to balance work and school.

I just finished my Masters in Cybersecurity Technology at UMGC and I was in the 11-week 6 credit mega-class version of the program. Got a lot of good stuff out of it and I still have GI bill money to use. I'm looking into the new Data Analytics program and I appreciate your insight! Looking forward to getting my hands dirty with AI/ML

You mentioned Business Intelligence. BI is no joke lol definitely not for me. Nice review. I will be attending UMGC online for my Masters in Business Administration in 2024. Did you have any proctored exams? I was told by an advisor there's not.

Another competitor sister school in the UM system is UMBC, which also offers Data Science master degree. There are 10 classes and 30 total credits. UMGC is completely online, so for busy students, it is a good choice.

[1 Year Later] I can attest to everything Gregory is saying: still challenging, broken links, accelerated programs, but manageable... endless, but repetitive resources etc. I am starting my second course in a few days. For the Military community, Families of, and both AD, and Veterans, UMGC is a top-ranked military- and veteran-trusted school for 75 years. While it is challenging for anyone, the school also has multiple resources, mentors, tutors, and tools, to help you succeed. #umgc #umgcgrad

I'm currently in DATA620 and I'm finding it to be useful (DATA610 was mostly Cognos Analytics & data visualizations), though definitely fast-paced (imo). It's basically all SQL for the first 4 weeks. Looks like Tableau and Python will be next in line.

The courses have what you need to know but definitely cramped. It will be difficult for someone who has never seen things like that before to grasp them in a short time. Definitely good enough to get a good understanding but not enough to master the concepts.

UMGC is an online school. They have do a campus, but this is administrative offices and program offices only.
