Week 3 of Base Training is here, and I am running and lifting this time around. We only have 2 weeks before we start training for the Atlantic City Marathon, then we are off! I am working hard to put the miles I will need to have a good training for the long weeks the AC Marathon training will last!

Yes, it feels like the heat really caught up with me this week. A few days ago I pushed through some harder runs despite the conditions and I'm paying for it now, sleep cycle way off and really heavy legs. But there are things to do besides running and I'm guessing that I'll bounce back after a few easy days. Great job to you for keeping up the running and strength work!

We are getting some relief today... we will only reach 87F. I saw you got out there incredibly early today! Great job doing that. Do you eat anything before you go out?

@@IRunThings Thanks Suzie! I don't want to take too much credit for it though because it was mainly about my sleep cycle being disturbed. I was wide awake in the middle of the night so it was easy enough to go then. And no, I don't do anything special for 35 or 40 minutes of easy to moderate running, A half marathon PR attempt or a three hour long run would be different, but I eat well and have enough energy in reserve for a basic daily run. Sometimes I'll have a couple of cookies or some candy immediately before, but I think that's more of a bribe to get myself out the door.😄

@@largeeddie ok. Maybe I should try having breakfast afterwards on weekdays. I might put a question on the community tab and see what others think. I am super curious. I generally wake up pretty hungry.

@@IRunThings For sure, you could try it. We're all individuals, listen to your body, find what works for you. all of that. I'm not hardcore about fasted running or any of that though. I'll have a little snack with my coffee if I'm feeling flat, and I will never skip the coffee. But I really look forward fueling up after the run without concern about it being too heavy while I'm running.

Is it possible to start earlier? I start runs at 5ish am to beat the heat

It's very hard for me to start at 5 because I like eating something prior to. So realistically, not before 6.30 Do you eat anything before your runs? I know people make it happen so I am curious

@@IRunThings I have this problem, too. Sometimes I do shorter runs before breakfast, but I always eat before the long runs. I would prefer to always eat first but it's hard. I am still wrestling with how to get a decent breakfast and still get out there early enough to beat the heat.

This is my main issue in the summer​@@chelrivermaybe some liquid shake would do it. I am not a fan of drinking calories though... but now that I am starting my training for Atlantic City maybe I should

@@IRunThings Sometimes I do applesauce before the shorter runs, but I don't think that'd be enough for the long ones. I am still experimenting with foods and testing the time I really need to digest.
