I read 4 books in the series. Third book had a reality series plot where one guy gets Swallows by a meg, shoots out of the gills alive but still gets eaten by a meg. Also, Jonas' teen daughter acts like a brat.

Haven't seen "The Meg," but I wonder if it actually explains what "living fossil" actually means. When it's understood as something which seems to have stopped evolving, it would make sense in trying to typify the shark as something at an evolutionary apex. But, chances are, the movie doesn't bother.
