Did noone even think about that for more than 5 seconds (could've used crocodiles!). Or the newspaper? Someone actually wrote that scene, made the prop, set up actors and filmed that scene. Why? Why not have a town-cryer or a tablet or something?

The invisible woman looks like she'll be Dr Girlfriend. The zany comic book vibes are relegated to non-banter. It looks like it was going in an interesting direction and then got Marveled. That's why I wouldn't hold my breath.

To be fair, the Romans are believed to have had hand pumps for firefighting, so "hand pump them down" doesn't have the ring of "hose them down". And they did have newspapers, and they lasted for eleven more years after the one the movie is set in, but it was a single plaque that was hung in a public place or message boards across forums and such, the Acta Diurna. But it was made of stone or metal, not paper. It would be incredibly expensive to do so otherwise
