I'm not sure what my favorite part of this movie is: Either the fact that Jack Black can so accurately portray a shallow teenage girl, or the first time The Rock came falling out of the sky and I forgot to breathe (Seriously, I love superhero landings. I got chills.)

Some of the most fun I’ve had watching a movie in years. Feels like the “entertainment” aspect of entertainment media is dying, seeing as this didn’t get enough praise for being non stop laughter and enjoyment that didn’t pretend to be anything but what it was.

Crazelord91 I usually can’t stand Jack Black but I found him hilarious and fun to watch. Lol! The whole scene between Dewayne Johnson and Kevin Hart arguing and fighting (when Kevin’s character pushed him off the cliff) had me laughing so hard. Then the awkward kiss between the nerds was hilarious too. I got so used to seeing kisses in movies being smooth so that one caught me off guard but made me burst out laughing.

I felt the scene was odd too. The previous cutscene the movie showed made it clear what it was and the characters were viewing it. This cutscene was simply for the audience. Doesn't matter, but both points are interesting.

I assumed the strong elephant representation was another subtle homage to the original movie...it was Robin Williams (Alan Parson's) game piece. Thought it was incredibly cool, touching and clever :)

The film instead of being a full reboot was a sequel to the first film that sort rebooted the franchise. New viewers can watch without seeing the first film but the references will not confuse them fans of the first will get the nods and get that this is the same game just evolved to catch it's prey better.

Guys, this isn't a reboot. It's a sequel. The movie starts off with the game on the shore, exactly where it was at the end of the first movie. You also see Alan's shelter that he built while he lived in the jungle for 26 years, so.....

No its not a sequel, otherwise all the lore and mechanics from the first would be mostly unchanged. Its like the ghostbusters, (except this was fun) make a new movie, good a few nods to the original, and try to not tie yourself down on making a copy.

Maybe it's because I went into this with really low expectations, but this movie was actually really good. It wasn't groundbreaking or anything, but it was really fun and I'd definitely watch it again. Worth a watch if you ever have 90 minutes to kill.

A sequel means it carries on, this doesn't: it exists in the same universe, but, the original has no effect on this (other than the mentioned cliché fake emotional nod to rw)! Zathura was more a sequel than this was. But I guess we automatically think Trevor Mevagissey is been so long since the first film, if this came out in 2000...?

Just watched this over Christmas as was on my to do list and I have to say it was actually really good, being a gamer some of the bits were genuinely laugh out loud. I am not sure I would call it a reboot or pure sequel but definitely would love to see it continue in this vein. Given the "game" as it were re incarnates itself to match its surroundings so to speak it has a lot of potential and I loved the homage to the late Robin Williams. If you havent watched it and want a bit of a laugh without having to think about a film too hard this is a good one. And yes, this indeed is what hope feels like.

We should all hate this guy, we should envy him, but we can't not be happy for his success, he is such a nice person and it is weird that he is so cool because he always had everything, money, looks, fame and still he manages to be so nice.
