3:38 I'm honestly amazed at how many people don't realize this is deliberate. Channels include a couple of factual errors, or an outrageously hot take, specifically so that people will yell at them in the comments. We at Horton's Hortons make videos of a strawman pretending to be an old man, calling himself Roger, speaking to a camera, parodying things that your cynical side, at least sometimes secretly believes to be true. All while sprinkling the whole thing with varying degrees of humor. All this is targeted at subjects Horton's Hortons analysts have concluded to produce the optimum level of knee-jerk reaction in the maximum amount of people, providing *you* with an easy target to laugh at, to make money of your distrust of large organizations, all while avoiding any actual ambiguity of the real world, that might make you think, because let's face it. That's not what you're on the internet for. I've been Rodger, by the way. And remember. We're on your side. 😉 (or something like that)

Jack Kirby actually made a character named "Funky Flashman" who looked similar to Lee after leaving Marvel Comics to work at DC. Funky Flashman was a greedy businessman who tried to milk Mister Miracle's show tour. It was never specifically stated that Funky was a caricature of Lee, though. Steve Ditko also didn't get along with Lee the best and he left Marvel to work at Charlton Comics (the distant #3 in comics behind Marvel Comics and DC; they introduced Blue Beetle, the Question, Peacemaker, Nightshade, and Judomaster... they went out of business and were bought by DC; the Charlton Comics characters joined DC in the 80's after Crisis on Infinite Earths changed some things). Ditko revamped quite a bit at Charlton Comics and produced, to this day, some of my favorite comics. Don't get me wrong, I think Lee likely had some good ideas. However, guys like Kirby and Ditko seemed to have very similar problems working with him, so it's reasonable to assume that there were some issues.

It's not because I hated any of them, it's just that I don't really remember they exist because they bring so very little to the table if you're not one of those obsessive fanboys that read decades of comics and now spends half their time obsessing over possible castings or when plotlines will be used. Yeah, comic books have become way more socially acceptable. Plus, a bit more of the general public reads comics now. It's not a huge number of people, but it's a fairly substantial increase to the comic-reading crowd (which normally wouldn't matter much, but it means that more comic reprints are being produced, particularly things which have never been reprinted at all). Sometimes it means that you see a great comic turned into a mediocre movie, but there are lots of comic movies which I have greatly enjoyed. Occasionally it results in odd conversations with non-comic fans (like people being surprised that Pepper Potts married Happy Hogan, Tony's bodyguard/chauffeur who dated Aunt May in the movies, rather than Tony himself). However, those odd conversations can also be amusing.

“Review Bombing.” 5:19 One of the best excuses crappy movies can make to deny that they suck.
@calebowens693
@calebowens693 Жыл бұрын
Yeah, 100% accurate. I've always wondered how much people who make claims about review bombing actually believe it themselves. And, frankly, forgettable movies cater to a definite market segment. A sci-fi movie made in the 50's probably has terrible special effects and cheesy acting, but they can still be a nice evening with friends and microwave popcorn. Not something worth going to the theater for (especially with ticket prices now), but it fills a definite place in the market as a Friday night on the living room couch watching Tokyo be destroyed by what is clearly a guy in a dinosaur costume stepping on toy cars. Not all movies are meant to be cinematic masterpieces. Now, they also shouldn't all expect the box office returns of cinematic masterpieces either, and that seems to be the actual problem. Review bombing is one thing, expecting massive profits disproportionate to the effort expended is another. I can enjoy even a movie which isn't very good, like Batman & Robin (1997). It wouldn't be worth the price of admission to bring the family to a theater for that level of quality though, and I certainly wouldn't go on my own without family (that would be less fun, so it wouldn't be worth the price just for me either).

It's adorable when people try to play stupid about review bombing. Then insist that bad movies starring white men are objectively better than flawed movies starring anyone else. Then again, the anti woke crowd are stupid enough to believe Trump won the election, so the bar was always set low for them. They'll fall for any grift.

I burned out on ALL so called Comic Book Movies about 20 years or so ago!! In fact the one TV show that was later turned into a comic book was Firefly/Serenity, is about one of very few I actually enjoy, and the other comic book movie I have followed is Guardians of the Galaxy!!! And I am fed up with all these being labeled as "Science Fiction" when better Sci Fi, stories and movies are ignored!! Further the writing on many of these so called "films" has gotten so predicable that, it is hard to watch another Spiderman remake or Iron Man movie, without knowing how the movie will end, AS it begins to play!! There is ZERO unforeseen plot twists and the story "surprises" are as unimaginable as if they were written by a five year old with a crayon and a roll of tape!! Even the character arcs are not worth mentioning either!! Yet how many times do we need to be reminded of how "Batman begins"????? Most of these have been so over played it would be like listening to the Micheal Jackson song Thriller for the next 20 years of your life, over and over and over again, every minute of every day of those same twenty years!! Or more to the point.......you'd be begging to listen to nails against a chalkboard at that point!!!

One of the smarter moves of the Marvel Spiderman movies was to jump straight in and not show the 'spider-bite, uncle Ben dies' bit: we already know that stuff and it would have been very annoying to sit through another hour of that old yarn.

What better end roll than a “Star Trek Fleet Command” commercial where some guy in green face and a Star Trek uniform picks a guy out of a coffee shop line.. tells him “we need you” and beams them both out? Mic Drop !!
