Billionaire is significant because it was in all actuality his song ( production, style, etc.) Everyone knows the hook and chorus, but only fans know Travis’s verses. It almost feels like it’s his song featuring Travie rather than the other way around. 🙂

@@dontbemad6460 it was his debut single yes. However a lot of people had been exposed to his music ( eps, mixtapes and features) since he started releasing it in 2006. Three years before “nothing on you”. He was * at the time * a bigger star considering Bruno was known more for writing and producing as part of the smeezingtons and had not yet made his debut as an artist until then. But hey this is just my opinion and you’re welcome to not argue about it 🙂

Gym class heroes has some great hidden gems, i loved them in middle school and still love them today. Still remember writing i love travie mccoy on my converse. Really glad to still be keeping up with travie and that he’s recovered. I hope one day we can get a reunion

Yeah the new album actually started as a new Gym Class Heroes album with Trav, Disashi and Matt reconnecting in Nashville back in like 2017, but shit happened and instead of scrapping it, Travie decided to finish the album independently and drop it under his name.

The band is done, but Travie is releasing a new album this summer, which actually started as a Gym Class Heroes album, but because of a mix of label and personal issues they were forced to scrap it and Travie decided to finish it out of his own pocket.

I think pop rap is a bit of a stretch. Perhaps they became that in the end to get on. But early Gym Class Heroes stuff was the opposite. For the Kids and Papercut Chronicles 1 were filled with dark and unhappy songs. Most were about drug addiction and feeling insecure. That was what got them their original fanbase.

Huge Gym Classheroes fan , went to concerts , still rock tshirts from fan clubs .... but , if you see him on IG today .... hes either using something or not taking care of himself ... he's 6'5 and looks gaunt and scary skinny , the bags under his eyes . He was never this thin , if you check out old interviews or even thr cupid chokehold video he looked healthier then . Now , he looks so sickly . I hope whatever is troubling him he overcomes it . Lack of info with how Billionaire was written. Bruno and the Smeezingtons were in London for the recording of Get Sexy (I think). The record label gave them a downpayment for their songwriting/production too small to actually live on while in London. That's the context for the worrying about food and what to buy. This was before Bruno had any projections of his eventual solo career, when he was still just working as a hits-for-hire man in LA
