Just came back from Prague yesterday, what a city man. Absolutely loved it. Honestly felt really sad when I had to go home again. We just walked around the entire day, taking random turns just to see where it would lead us. From the WWII memorial up to the Vitkov monument. Luckily didn't ran into any scammers or anything. Can't wait to visit it again.

There are 28 crosses, because a group added the 28th cross last year (I believe) to honor the condemned man who committed suicide the night before the execution

There are statues of St John of Nepomuk EVERYWHERE in Czechia, not just Prague. That's because the Catholic church promoted him heavily during the 17th&18th centuries, as one of the methods of re-catholisation and as a Catholic counterpart to Jan Hus (they lived more or less at the same time). So for quite a time he was the most popular saint in Czechia. So you can make a game of it everywhere in Czechia. There's even an online map where people are adding all the spots where the statues are. :D
@ioangreavu2 жыл бұрын
There's also a statue of him in Sibiu, Romania. It used to be in the Large Square but it was moved to a church's yard.

Fun video. Having been to Prague 6 times, the first time was in 1991 and the last time was in 2018. For me, this video is also good for someone who has 4 days in Prague, not just 4 hours. Once a person gets the major highlights of the city, they can then incorporate these little gems you shared. Everytime I visit Prague I discover something new and wonderful. My next goal for Prague is to visit it during the winter when there is snow. I have lived just 6 hours away from Prague for the last 9 1/2 years, so this is an attainable goal for me. I am hoping perhaps this winter will be the one. It will be a dream come true for me!

Another Judith's bridge remainders are actualy both of it's towers - one is the lower one of the two towers on Malá Strana. The other one is not very recognizeable as it got incorporated into a building - it's the part sticking out behind Janek's head at 8:49 Plus there is one arch visible under the very square, where the river boats anchor in the water tunnel.

The Astronomical Clock and The Old Town Square were beautiful. I remember it being distinctly cool in September 2009. I remember also going to the Museum of Communism. I had no clue that the building we passed by was the Municipal House. Also passed by the Opera House, the one near a bridge. We also went down the river, under Charles Bridge, on a ferry boat, and enjoyed a lot of wine as afternoon became night. Prague is such a beautiful city. I wish we had had more time to explore, especially the Jewish Quarter. I was nineteen, a student when our team won a prize to visit select cities in Europe, and Praha was the first city we landed in. I hope I can visit again in future.

I think the 28th white cross was painted by David Cerny or a similar artist. It was painted around May 2021. Supposedly the city got it wrong and there should have been 28 to begin with, there was a mini protest on the white crosses in 2016 but I can't find it at the moment in English I'm a tour guide and I spoke about 27 white crosses for a long time, came back to in person tours in May 2021 and noticed the 28th. Double checked that it had always been 27 and reassured myself hadn't gone mad

Visited Prague last Saturday, and thought I'd be a good idea to bring my bike. Turned out to be a BIG mistake. While the trip from the parking to the inner city was nice (following the A2 cycling path), it went downhill very fast. The city center is just full of roads with awful, headache-inducing cobble stones. I had to resort to cycling on the sidewalk, understandably much to the dismay of the pedestrians walking there. I don't want to judge, different countries = different cultures, but just be aware that walking is really the only option.
