I did the Monopoly Board pub crawl 20 odd years ago, one drink at every location on the Monopoly Board. We started off at the George as it was the most out-of-the-way location. We arrived there before opening time on a Saturday morning and there was around 25 people waiting outside from different groups doing different Monopoly routes all with the same starting point. So five minutes after opening in the morning the pub was crowded, half an hour later everyone moved on and the pub was completely empty again.

Lovely to see a traditional London boozer, it certainly makes the hairs on back of my head stand up. I know there’s a lot of talk of pubs closing and not being as packed as much as they used to be, I mean personally I am one to talk and am guilty of not supporting pubs by attending more often. But drinks in pubs are just so expensive these days and I like many others I know just can’t afford to go as often as I’d like, it’s become like a treat such as going to a restaurant rather than routine. In my parents and grandparents day there weren’t such a thing as off license shops or drinks being sold in supermarkets and the only place to buy your alcohol was in the pub which made them stay afloat.
