The next time I feel that my shop is a mess, I'll remember the first few seconds of this video...Said with all due respect and eternal admiration(a bit over the top but I did start off with coitizing your workshop,lol.) cheers rr Normandy, Fra.

This is funny because I don't watch the intros I film until I'm editing, and even I paused for a minute and thought, wow this looks messy.

Interesting to see other angles of your new workshop. The lights look brilliant but the table was a strange beast, stunning rayed oak but oddly built. Your videos are always full of interesting distractions.
@HoneyBadgerWoodWorks

A strange beast is great way to describe this desk. I really like the way it looks, but for something that outwardly looks sturdy it really wasn't. I was told it used to be a librarians table and I wonder if it was a mass produced piece not intended to be heirloom furniture. Equivalent of an antique Ikea.

@@HoneyBadgerWoodWorks Never thought I'd see the words antique and Ikea in the same sentence! hahahaha Maybe it deserves to be turned into something more worthy of the wood?

Shop lights are great for a multitude of things. I've used them for finishing too and if you life in a area where it gets dark early they make great "work on the car in the dark" lights too.

I had a couple of those older lights with stands and when the bulbs broke, I purchased two of the LED lights that did not have stands and reworked the mounts so now I have stands for them. They work great on a job site, and I do not have to worry about someone getting burned or knocking them over.

I had a friend who had one that was scary hot. Something or someone would be getting burnt in my shop with one of those.

I have a few of these lights, they work quite well. I just wish they would come with a removable light diffuser on them. It is nice to have a bright light, but in some work conditions you can get light glare back off your work, a diffuser would help in these conditions.
@HoneyBadgerWoodWorks
@HoneyBadgerWoodWorks Жыл бұрын
That would nice, and gives me some ideas because I have bits and pieces of different diffuser material around the shop.

Thank you Caitlin, for the repair and finishing tips. The light seems to work great and give you the added brightness needed in places in your workshop. And there really isn't much more you can say about a light than all the points you noted.

Agreed, there is only so much to say about a light haha.

Glad the LED light is so beneficial. Like you found better for sanding and finish applications. See definitely better than commonly used shop bulbs. Also much cheaper to use. I have 30,000 lumens in my shop. I have Vevor 5kw just like yours, this is the second winter, warms my 12 x 20 shop nicely and Love it. We also have had above temps. Can't wait to see you review. Everyone stay warm, safe, happy and healthy. From Henrico County Virginia Wonderful update to your desk.

I recently picked up a Vevor miter gauge for my Bosch table saw. It was pretty nice, a few misses in the design (the vernier part is not vernier) but for $60 it's MANY times nicer than what comes with the saw, and you have to spend almost double that to get anything better. Thanks for the review!

I'm happy you left this comment. I've been needing to replace my stock miter gauge for quite a few years now and didn't want to pull the trigger on some of the more expensive models when I can get by with my broken one. I'll have to check that out, the price point is more my liking.

@@HoneyBadgerWoodWorks really, for a professional I would look at the Incras. You can find a used 1000se for around$100 on Ebay, it would be much more capable. I'm at work, later I'll expand on the issues with the Vevor. Unless they'll send you one for free :)

OK, so about the Vevor Miter Gauge. Very nice materials, solid aluminum. The miter bar has several adjusters to snug it up, they're on top, and all are accessible without having to take anything off. It also has removable discs in case you dont need that kind of miter bar (my Bosch does.) The base is solid, and has degree marks that are stamped, bit not colored, so can be a little tricky to read. It has what looks like a vernier on the fixed part, but it's not a vernier, it's the same spacing as on the base, a good point would have been just as good. It has a screw that indexes into holes for specific angles (45 for instance) but there's no place to put the screw if you take it out, so it will dissolve in sawdust eventually (i.e. get lost.) It comes with a huge fence, with inches on top and cm in the center of the face. It starts at 0 and is left to right reading, so unless you want to put another rule over that you'll need to cut it. It takes a tool to attach the fence but no place to store the tool (its just an allen key.) The flip stop is nice, but it's not a standard track, so you cant use the flip stop on anything else, nor is it easy to put something else instead. It is a much nicer miter gauge than what came with the saw, but again, look at the Incras, or better yet watch the wood whisperers excellent comparison video.

If you have old halogen work lights that take up too much power and break if you look at them funny, then you can reuse the stands and convert them to LePower LED lights. Just unbolt the old lights and bolt on the new LEDs. Easy-peasy and much cheaper than buying lights with new stands.

I didn't have old halogen ones, but this is a good tip for anyone that does. The LEDs are a huge energy saver.
