The honeysuckle I'm familiar with (Upper Midwest, US) was shrubby, not vining. And when we were kids, we would pluck the blossoms and pull the stamens out from the back to get that tiny drop of sugary nectar - which of course we 'drank' - if one can drink a tiny drop! There's a book called Honeysuckle Sipping, The Plant Lore of Childhood that you might enjoy. We played with plants quite a lot when I was young. I'm in awe of the true artistry of your work. I've watched lots of other people and I've indulged in many creative efforts over many, many decades. I recognize an artist that takes things to another level, putting their own personality and stamp on their work and investing time and loving care in their projects. I fell in love with your Viking doll (I did dollmaking for awhile!) and I'm never less than wowed by any of your work.

Thank you so much for your lovely message 😊 Yes we used to do the same with the honeysuckle. Also with fuchsia flowers too! I'm so amazed all the time by everyone's reaction to what I do... until a few months ago only family and a couple of friends used to see it all...

You have the most amazing ideas about how to achieve a certain look ! Your honeysuckle looks just like mine in the garden, so I’d say it’s a success . However, I can understand that you think it would look even better in 3D, more alive. But the very nature of “ a book” , is flat and pictorial, as opposed to three dimensional and sculpture like. Unless you feel like trying to make a pop up one 😁 I will be thinking of you this next week , and truly hope you can enjoy your time in Scotland 😘xx

I love honeysuckle too and you’ve really crated something truly beautiful for your book. However, I can fully appreciate how your creativity and your idea has been cut short by the confines of the book page. I am currently training one to grow up some hazel on one side of my front door. My door frame has got moulding which is like a very tall carved stone fire surround. I’ve got some twisted branches, from a tree that I cut back for someone, lying on the “mantle piece” and I’ve got two clematis climbing up the other side of the door. I’m hoping that this year the honeysuckle and the clematis will grow enough to meet on the “mantle piece” and become tangled together up there. Anyway, when you were talking about being disappointed with the outcome of your page and wanting to revisit the honeysuckle on a larger scale, what I’m doing with mine just popped into my head and got tangled with something you’ve said about decorating your fire surround..so perhaps you could bring your garden indoors and have it growing up the side of your fireplace. Another idea that popped into my head was to have it “growing” up a standard lamp to form the lampshade at the top I’m late to comment on this video, and you’ve probably already hatched your plan for both the honeysuckle sculpture already, but I just wanted to let you know my thoughts. If nothing else, you’ve inspired me to bring some of my garden indoors and perhaps try to create a honeysuckle or clematis sculpture of my own ❤
