This saved me. This thing would not stop beeping and I couldn't find out how to disconnect it. This was the only way I found to open the keypad and take out the wires.

The "Jewel" I got from this video was pressing 1 and 3 together and changing to 16. It worked. Thumbs up !

If I replaced by 6150 with a 6160, will I have to reprogram everything (zones, wireless fobs, etc) or is that info retained?

That's stored on the panel, not the keypad.

I did exactly this, replaced a 6150 RF with a 6160RF. The RF is for the wireless sensors that we have. If you're running all wired, you do not need this model. Once I swapped over the keypad, I had a fault 03 on the display. Tried clearing it but it wouldn't clear. Had to run out and do a few things in the meantime and when I came back the fault had cleared and the keypad worked the same as the previous one.

I have three questions. What wire do I need, what type of transformer and do I need a vista 20p Panel?

No problem! We recommend between 18-22 Gauge 4 strand wire. This device is typically powered from the panel, but if you are needing a power supply, a 12VDC power supply should be fine for the installation. No, if you swap a Honeywell 6150 for a 6160 programming keypad everything will remain the same in the Vista panel programming. The only thing that you need to do is re-address the new 6160 programming keypad so that it will function correctly.
