i'm a retired 30 yr union construction worker and it's nice to see a fellow pro make a mistake and own up to it, but more importantly is he double checks his work like a pro and discovers it. mother nature gets us all in the end with glasses. chuck i don't know you personally but i know the type of guy you are and i would have you as my plumber if i lived in the area.

Modern heating systems can be amazingly fussy. Three years ago I replaced our old boiler and water heater with a combi boiler. As part of the job I added two zones to the second floor. It was an easy job of simply adding two new actuators to the existing manifold. To avoid pulling in new wire for two new thermostats I went with Honeywell wireless thermostats an equipment interface module and a redlink wireless control module. I used the wiring diagram supplied by Honeywell and it worked fine to start the boiler and open the zone valves, but nothing would turn off. It took me hours of searching the Honsywell site before I finally found the very obscure link to the correct wiring diagram. It worked after I rewired it, but the correct wiring was 100% non-intuitive. I also sympathize with your feelings about super fine print. I carry an extremely bright LED flash light just for reading tiny print that I could have read in a dark room 20 years ago but can't read now unless I am in bright sun or use my super bright light.

those EIM`s are amazing arent they? I had to change out a few bad actuators at one job. They wanted 7 brand new thermostats top of the line. So I gave them 7 hw prestige stats with the interface module. So clean
@ChuckBarron6 жыл бұрын
wow ok....interesting. do you need wireless or does it link to boiler itself?
@todddunn9456 жыл бұрын
@@ChuckBarron the equipment interface module is hard wired to the boiler, the zone circulating pumps, the wireless module, and the zone actuators. The only wireless part is the new thermostats for the two new zones.

he caught his error, which is GREAT . . . yet when he commented on the length of the exposed wires and should he trim or not . . . he didn't . . . I would have liked him to "clean up" the installation from "soup to nuts" . . . but that is just me, I am not a licensed contractor ( except in my own mind ), and most of my D.I.Y. projects take twice/thrice the time to complete . . . and I do really good work . . .

We have a T87N in the hallway of our apartment complex. I need to check the position of those dip-switches because ours shuts off the heat 4 degrees F below what it's set to. IE: Set to 68, and it keeps the temperature at 64. 70, and it heats to 66. Could you please instruct us as to how to REMOVE a T87 from its base mount on the wall? I've tried prying this sucker off everyway possible, and since it's where we rent, I don't want to break our lease, along with the thermostat! lol

The only disadvantage to the new style t87 is that those have small batteries in them that can not be changed. I will use them as long as the situation is right. In a seasonal house they suck. For good digital lux pro has a decent one. And Honeywell 5000 or 6000 series work nicely tho they need a constant power wire.

I had a humidifier , new multi function thermostat installed 5 years ago. The thermostat battery case kept popping open. It would then default to some wild configuration. I'd get home and no heat. Lock battery case back up and fart around for 10 min's trying to get heat. Next day same thing. Went and bought a thermostat with, heat, cool, off and auto. Up for higher temp, down for lower temp. The old K.I.S.S principle. Keep it simple stupid, lol.

Which brand and model did you get that was simple I've got an older friend that can't see very well and doesn't comprehend very well he needs something real simple in my own house I have one of those old murky ones that you do have to switch it at the bottom from heat to cool or maybe off but heater cool and then you just worked at the the temperature lever at the top Pure simplicity, I'd like to find one of those for my elderly friend if anybody knows who makes those I have to check mine to see if there's a model number or brand name on it, mine is an old Trane weathertron, Mercury thermostat and it runs my heat pump fine except my wife and I have the constant thermostat battle but the plastic aclear vent diverters over the ceiling vents (I bought some extra magnets from Lowe's home improvements to help secure the vents to the ceiling vents over my recliner) to help me survive her tendency to ice it down like it's the North Pole, I wonder if you can still pick those up simple Trane weathertron Mercury thermostats?
