Hello Michelle, absolute beginner here. I'm not understanding the value or point of a kong, four of a kind. If you have a kong, how would you mahjong? Isn't a mahjong 4 sets of 3 and a pair? I suppose you could have 3 sets of 4, but I don't see that described anywhere. I've also printed out your Quick Rules card, but didn't see it mentioned there either.

There are two ways to declare a kong: 1) A player can claim a discard to declare a expose a kong when they have a concealed pung. 2) A player can extend an exposed pung to a kong when they draw the 4th tile from the wall. When a player declares a kong, the four tiles are placed in their exposure area then the player picks a replacement tile from the back of the wall so they have 14 playable tiles. The 4th kong tile is not included in that count. Kongs have no value except with one special hand called All Kong (4 kongs plus a pair; 10 fan). There is a special situation regarding kongs called Robbing a Kong. This can only occur when a player is ready to win on the 4th tile being used to extend an exposed pung to a kong and it must be done immediately. Regularly exposed kongs and concealed kongs cannot be robbed with one exception, a concealed kong can be robbed for winning on Thirteen Orphans (only when the concealed kong is declared.) mahjong.wikidot.com/kong

In a half flush hand with a pair of dragons, must the dragons be in the same suit as the others? If you had one of the Pungs be a Pung of Dragons, would the Pung of Dragons have to been in the same suit? Does ‘same suit’ mean across the tray, or just for the ‘suits’, i.e., Bams, Craks, Dots?

For Half-Flush, the Dragons, like Winds, are neutral so they don't need to be the corresponding Dragon unless your are play the special hands where the corresponding Dragon is required: Pearl Dragon, Ruby Dragon, Jade Dragon :)

If you have Chows of Dots and a Pung of White Dragons with Eyes of Dots. Is that only a Mixed Suit hand? Not anything like the Pearl Dragon. Could you have a Chow in a mostly White Dragon Hand of the Pungs?

Chows in any one suit with a pung of White Dragons would be a half flush and is worth 3 fan.

Yes, that would be considered a half flush so you would get 4 fan for Three LIttle Dragons plus 3 fan for half flush resulting in a 6 fan hand. If the pung is the valued Wind (i.e., Seat, Round), you could get another fan or two!

Can you have a Pung of Honors in a Chow hand in various suits.

If you have a pung of Honors with chows in mixed suits, you could end up with a Chicken Hand. Chows in mixed suits bring no value to the hand so the pung of Honors would have to be either a Dragon, the player's Seat Wind, or the Wind of the Round for 1 fan.
