One of Hong Kong's most notorious businessman was released from a local hospital custodial ward on Saturday.
Disgraced Malaysian financier George Tan had just completed a three-year prison sentence for conspiracy to defraud.
Tan is said to be responsible for the Carrian scandal, the biggest corporate collapse in Hong Kong's history.
George Tan was wheeled out of a local Hong Kong hospital a free man on Saturday.
The 63-year-old former boss of the Carrian Empire was convicted in 1996 of defrauding Malaysian government owned Bank Bumiputra and Bumiputra Malaysia Finance of 238 (m) million dollars.
Tan served his prison term in a local hospital after his lawyers told a Hong Kong court that prison life could trigger a fatal heart attack for the former property magnate.
SOUNDBITE:(English)
" Tan's health is not good. In those circumstances it is his intention to spend a quiet time with his family and to seek appropriate medical assistance to enable him to resume a normal life."

Tan holds a passport for Paraguay.
Hong Kong's immigration department has yet to make a request for his departure.
Hong Kong newspapers are reporting that Tan may return to the South American state after his release.
The Carrian empire was founded by Tan in 1979, and collapsed in 1983 after Hong Kong's property marked crash in 1982.
Carrian had debts on 800 (million) dollars at the time of its failure.
At one point it was one of Hong Kong's biggest companies.
Hong Kong's Department of Justice spent nearly 25 (m) dollars and recorded millions of pages of documents to secure his conviction following a 13-year investigation into Carrian.

George Tan is probably a front man for the IFC in 1972. Basically as usual Malaysian Bank lends him $1.1 billion to get a BULL RUN in the HK bourse, like what happens to London Forex, SG bourse, KL bourse(much like Pan El $0.5 billion in 1985, Bank Negara $1.0 bil in 1992, IMDB $10 billion caper in 2014 - yeah rite, and Bank of England or Bank of New York didn't know about it) Now we are doing Market Operation too with the Tokyo, HKex, KLSE, SGex too. Different strategy to give a boost to the market. 🥹💯✋️
