Your Korean accent is so CLEAN!!! You sound like an anchorman. You seem to have a knack for getting accents right
@JoiskiMe4 жыл бұрын
Your Swedish is really good. You master all the phonemes as far as I can hear. Your pitch-accent however is not perfect yet. But that's natural as you just went on an exchange and spent time speaking mostly English. I think correct pitch-accent needs to be picked up through a lot of exposure. Your Thai is beautiful though. I think you speak Thai a lot better than me and I'm half Thai. Great pronunciation and vocabulary as far as I can tell ^_^

You have made a very good point. A language can keep getting passed down to the next generation only when there is a written form. So I really think that the project you're doing with your friends is a very meaningful one. I sincerely hope written Cantonese could flourish more in the future!!
@sampsonlee26 жыл бұрын
M Kwon Thank you! Though Cantonese is definitely not endangered at the moment, it would certainly decline if there is no written form for the language. I've learned that there are some very divergent varieties of Cantonese in China. I think the local people there should protect their language as well! I wish the same for any languages!
@sgtK04206 жыл бұрын
Sampson Lee How different are those other varieties of Cantonese? Are they unintelligible to Hong Kongers?
@sampsonlee26 жыл бұрын
The 四邑 and 勾漏 varieties of Cantonese are the most divergent imo. I can only understand 20% without subtitles. But since they are branches of Cantonese, I can understand more if I listen long enough. Main 四邑 dialects: 台山話、新會話 Main 勾漏 dialects: 玉林話、貴港話

Awesome vid man!!! この動画を本当に楽しみましたよ。たくさんの日本人の友達がいって、日本と日本語に興味があることで日本語を勉強しています。今一年5ヶ月日本語を勉強してて、私の生活がめっちゃ進歩したと思います。笑笑 日本語以外の学びたい言語もあるけど、(韓国語とか、中国語とか、広東語とか、スペイン語とか、オランダ語とか) 日本語にぺらぺらになるのが私の一番大切な事ですね。笑笑
Impressive! I'm a British guy who's been living in Sweden for the last 10 years. You're definitely way better than I was at Swedish after only four months! I can see a few "classic mistakes" that you made that I used to struggle with. For example: "Jag gick" doesn't always translate directly as "I went" in a general sense like in English. It actually means "walked". If you flew you say "Jag åkte till Sverige". "Jag sällan talade Svenska" should be "Jag talade sällan Svenska". I can't even remember why this is the rule, but it just is hahaha. Maybe a Swede can explain why? It works the same for all of those descriptors. Sällan. Ofta. Aldrig. etc.

Tu es vraiment super! Alors, ton suédois et coréen sont incroyables, je pense. J'ai commencé à apprendre le chinois mandarine et le coréen aussi. J'ai appris un peu de suédois, donc touts les langues tu parles ici sont intéressants pour moi. Le dernière est comme un langue asiatique, un peu comme le thaï peut-être. Haha @Sampson Lee, I couldn't follow your brang-drying-we, but the way you pronounce 廣東話 in it sounds exactly like how it's pronounced in my mother tongue, Teochew. I've worked on conlangs myself on and off for the past decade but it hasn't yielded much. I'm impressed you've been able to come up with as much as you have.

Hi Sampson! I noticed that Chinese languages aside from Mandarin, are really harder to learn unless you live in a community of speakers. My father speaks Hokkien but unfortunately, I didn't get to learn it. I noticed that the books and audio that I can purchase for learning Chinese is always available only in Mandarin. I resolved to just learning putonghua. I guess, aside from the dictionary, a language learning course book with audio is necessary for people who would want to learn the language. Greetings from the Philippines!

Awesome bro! (Well actually I can't confirm on the Thai and "Brandingway" but...I'm sure they're just as beautifully-pronounced as the rest.) I share your pain on Swedish and Cantonese. Learned a bit of both in college, but when I've tried to speak them to people since then, I just get shut down and answered in English. Kind of sad. Anyway you are really talented. What language is next for you?
I've really been wanting to learn Cantonese recently but I can't find a lot of good martial. 日本語ならたくさん動画とか教科書があるけど、広東語はいません。So colloquially written Cantonese sounds awesome. I'm really interested in learning more about that project!

Is Thai hard to learn for Cantonese and English speakers ?
What were the steps you took when teaching yourself a language without guidance? I am studying Korean as a hobby currently. I started by learning 핟글 and am now learning random verbs, words and particles for verbs.
@ppu88_956 жыл бұрын
I would recommend you to study grammar first, u can use the website called howtostudykorean.com it has all of the basic grammar you need. While learning grammar you can learn basic vocabulary, search for topik korean vocabulary or other sources. Build up your grammar and vocabulary as you advance and that's it! I've been doing this and I can understand most of Korean now, I'm still learning.Good luck! :))

If I may, I am a native Thai and English speaker for the english phrases translated, I find some awkward. This is correct: We start learning English from Kindergarten.... (this is right) but instead of "and" say this, "We start learning English from Kindergarten to secondary school (High School, in the United States). The next phrase you say about the subjects is correct! Another phrase that concerned me was the "we can..." part. We can read or understand the information easier in English, as we don't have to translate those words (jargon is too specific to be used, as it does not match how you talk.) into another language. & I agree with how you said Hong Kong focuses more on written English rather than spoken English because Thailand is the same way! Other than that, I found your English easy to understand and much like someone who comes from the United States! Your thai pronunciation is dead on, but be a little more relaxed with it, as it sounded like you were forcing some parts.
