I have lost two of my children but neither was a situation that they could have been organ donors although both had inicated their willingness. As a 50 year licensed health care professional I have been on both sides. I am so glad that these honor walks have become a part of care. Blessings to those who ahve passed and their loved ones who honor life yet suffer such loss.

A very close, dear friend of ours received a liver transplant so that, at age 50, he could live on and provide for his family. A few years later, he worked at holding his emotions in check as he walked his daughter down the aisle and, later, provided a toast at his son's wedding. MUCH ADMIRATION to the medical community. You DO, every day, work MIRACLES!

I wish my hospital would have done this in 1994, I can feel the grief in my heart when I was the sole RN handing off to the OR RN to a patient for harvesting. This brings the human connection to the experience. RN's are human and this hospital recognizes the human experience.

Elizabeth lives on both in body and spirit. Her body in a way carries on with different parts transplanted into other bodies and that keeps her as it were physically alive. As for the rest, well, live NEVER EVER dies, that it IMPOSSIBLE, and although Libby as she was known to all who loved her isn't there in her familiar form , her heart abd her love is in ALL her loved ones and friends, so she really can NEVER die. She'll ALWAYS be with you, no matter what.

We do this at the hospital where I work as a nurse. The gift of this life that g gives forward to others so they can live their best, healthiest life is beyond measure. Her gift has carried another family through their struggle and she and each donor live on through each they help. The recipients smile is also the donor smiling, each laugh they share, each blessing of everyday they share, each day is a gift most treasured and thankful for. Any that choose to be an organ donor and the family of one that decides to help are angels, not letting their hurt prevent them from thinking of others. This is beautiful and truly show the heart and soul of a person.

The same team just didn't honor walk for my brother a couple of weeks ago up until that point I never knew what an honor walk was. But I honestly have to say this team has been the most caring and loving staff and that I see you it was definitely a beautiful moment for my brother Dalton. He was 18 and we found out there was a recipient for his heart he passed away after him and my stepmom was in a car accident so it's very moving to be able to go back and see how it started with this particular facility!
