Absolutely! In 1973, when I was fifteen, I watched my first Bruce Lee film, 'The Big Boss' in a cinema here in the Netherlands. I will never forget it. It made such a huge impression, that I started practicing martial arts a few weeks later and it hugely enhanced my lacking self- esteem in the long term.. Bruce has helped millions of youngsters to grow some balls and some self-esteem. His influence is huge! Still!

The world in some ways still hasn't caught up to Bruce's concepts of flow and energy (totally insulting the idea that Brad Pitt could even knock him down in Once Upon A Time In Hollywood). Great for Shannon to continue to promote his legacy. The incredible Lee.

I grew up in Yugoslavia in the 70s just after he died, but we all watched and adored his movies, his charisma and charm, speed and agility. His perseverance is something I subconsciously felt and understood from a very young age. I wanted to practice karate when I was 7, but due to various circumstances I started when I was 27 and then it took me 20 years to get a black belt. Always with him in my mind. Certainly, there were many amazing people in the past, but because we don't have pictures and videos of them, it's hard to really understand their genius. In his case, he did a lot in the short time he had and as such will leave in our minds and hopefully inspire other generations forever.

Bruce Lee was obviously ahead of the curve when it came to martial arts, health, fitness, business and film choreography. The one thing that hasn’t been highlighted enough about him is his view of a universal human family. He was a proud Asian as he should be, but he also understood that ultimately all ethnicities are part of the HUMAN family. The world needs more people like Bruce Lee because even though he’s not physically here among us, his legacy continues to build bridges between different cultures, generations and ethnicities. He was definitely one of my role-models as a kid. He inspired me not just as a martial artist and athlete, but he also inspired me to always have a open mind so that I can grow and connect to people. Rest In Power Sifu!🙏🏾

I went to Seattle 5 years ago and decided to visit the grave sites of Jimi Hendrix and Bruce Lee (about 20 - 30-minute drive from each other). I went to Hendrix site first and there was about 8 people who came and went in total the 30 minutes I was there. I went to Lee’s site next (it was about 3 or 4 in the afternoon). From the time I got there until I left, there was a steady stream of people who can to the grave site. I estimate about 20 - 25 people came while I was there (and still were coming when I left). I was amazed at how popular Lee still was.

It was never a mess if people bothered to read the published material on him. By the 1990's, the biography on him was a pretty complete. There was a new biography in the last decade that theorized that heat exhaustion as his primary cause of death. That biography was a breakthrough and well done. He had many flaws but his determination and successes (and lessons from failures) were inspirations to many.

Thankfully, Lee was actually able to sneak in a few movies starting at the very last 1.5 year of his life. Prior to that...there are zero action movies, he was simply a veteran at live combat. In live situations he had fought; Black Belts, Pro Fighters, Ex military, Champions, 3rd degree Masters, Rival Martial Artists, and opponents that outweighed him by 100 pounds. His battle experience started as a young boy who would then become the leader of the Hong Kong Gang, the Tigers of Junction Street, and his violence lead all through out his teens + adulthoodhood. The few movies he DID get to make were only at the last 1.5 years of his life which had been a very brief opportunity for him to report his life experiences and give that personal insight into live combat. He only made 3 little movies plus One Hollywood film, a very short attempt at films but we're lucky he at least made them and snuck them right in JUST before he died to show us his insights on his personal life of hard combat. Lee is ranked by Sports Illustrated in the 50 Greatest Athletes of All Time, with near super human strength that could raise unbelievable weights which pro weight lifters could not.

The impact he had even if he wasn't a competitive fighter...JKD and "the way of the intercepting fist" has had an immense impact on MMA...look at the the styles of the likes of Conor McGregor, Israel Adesanya and many other pro fighters and there is a common denominator that draws very close to his style be it intentional or not..he has an amazing insight in knowing what would work, look at his fighting gloves, his use of Judo and wrestling to create a hybrid way if fighting with no style, when you hear what he had to say about fighting and it being a formless art form without dictation, a self expression from the soul without thinking but one that flows like water. A poet, a thinker and a human being.
