They were also the coolest aspect of the VII Legion. The Templar Brethren being their progenitors, were the very elite of the legion. My only point of sadness for them in my current understanding is how Dorn basically shadow banned Sigismund as his son. But I’m not caught up in the SoT series; with the reasons Dorn has to feel about Siggy, when he broke up his legion, did he feel the same about all the marines he put into the Black Templars? Only ask because of the way Dorn chose to group them together being the most zealous of his legion.

Like, "someone mixed White Scar, Thousand Sons', and Blood Angel's geneseed to make a chapter of really aggro psycher speed-monks that then defected from the Imperium and joined the Tau", kind of goofy. They'd call themselves "the Knights of Balance" or the "Order of the Silver Mirror" and they'd run around on puffs of air (like Air-Benders, but at White Scar speeds with the Benny Hill track playing in the background), smacking things with unnecessarily explosive monk weapons and using Tau guns. Probably not playable (I know barely anything about playing the actual tabletop game), but I'm more into the lore and painting of this hobby anyway.

In my Red Shoulders, they do not adorn in any highly ornate decoration. The only thing that tells my honor guard apart from the rest of the red shoulders is their trim is gold; their armor shinier.

As someone who has had his hands on a few sniper rifles back in the day and then working as something like vip personal protection you need at least 8 really good sniper teems for every mile you move out side of a underground bunker, and they have to be in position for more than 48 before you go to ground. And I think someone mediocre at best like me still have a 20 or better chance of getting lucky and "get the shot". You can not be protected from a sniper, that knows what he is doing and where's the target going to be. If they can get in position before the protection teem as long as they don't get stupid or " get hit by a meteor" it's game over! The president of the United States and Russia are maybe the exception that prove that point. But in Sofia Bush had 20 sniper rifles around in a mile radius and CIA NSA FBI .... And every last local idiot in blue... And.... still wasn't 100% safe!

Honor Guards and Command Squads are units I really love in theme and lore, but on the tabletop they always feel like they struggle. They should be a meatgrinder unit, able to lay waste to entire squads of enemy elites. Instead they're just slightly better regular Marines. Its a true shame.

Right the lore and the game often don’t connect. Seriously their should be entire scenarios based around the Adeptus Custodios and Grey Knights they are so over powered in the lore but kind of weak on the tabletop. You have entire apocalypse sized army’s vs a single squad of either Adeptus Custodis or Grey Knights.
