I can’t tell you how wonderful it is to see a middle aged woman with a similar skin texture and eyes doing makeup! It is just so so helpful. Thank you so much!!

Oh this is such a similar story for me! Haven't worn makeup much in the last ten years. I am 56 now and my hooded eyes are even more hooded and I can hardly see them! You are a blessing, my daughter is getting married and I so needed help, thank you so much :)

It’s been possible 20 years since I’ve worn really any makeup I grew up with unlimited Mary Kay products but with kids and my job of managing aquatics I stop wearing it Recently @ 54 I decided I wanted to start wearing again and was quickly slapped with the fact I couldn’t just do things as I used to I’m really enjoying your tutorials and I’m having a lot of fun playing with all the products….. I’ve probably gone a little overboard but hey my kids are grown and I’m having a blast playing with my products I feel like a number of the videos (including yours) have helped me make good choices on we’re to spend and not to spend Thank you!!

So glad you found me!! I think many women go through a period where they stop wearing makeup for a while. I'm the same, and was, like you, surprised that my makeup (especially eye makeup) didn't work anymore! The good news is, the products are a lot better now - so many more shades of foundation are out now, too. Have fun with it!

My skin changed in my 30's and it was hard. That was before youtube. Now I can watch you and others and learn to play in make up again and enjoy it.

This is so refreshing. I used to be obsessed with makeup- now I stopped wearing eye makeup. It’s frustrating being almost 50 and nothing on my eyes looks good anymore. I can’t figure it out. My hoods just get worse. :-( Thank you for the helpful info and hope.

Just wanted to say thank you, your opening made me realize this is a rite of passage so to speak. I stopped wearing makeup because I felt like it made me look worse. Just needed to step away and look with fresh eyes at this new face lol. You do a great job!

Love the two and done. I find I need to keep my mobile lid light. Otherwise my eyes seem to sink into my face. I love the concept of one and done but can only do it with light colors. Your technique is wonderfully subtle.

I enjoy your artistry! I am a 68 yr. old RN. My optometrist informed me a few years ago that I have hooded lids and to make sure I protect the skin of my eyes from the sun. I wear sunglasses and use Colorescience Total Eye 3 in 1 for this and Vanicream Broad Spectrum SPF 50 around my eyes if I'm going skiing or for a long hike (I live in Colorado). At some point, people with hooded lids may require surgery because, with age and sun exposure, the hoods may cover the eyes. Awful thought, I know, but my FIL had the surgery done and it not only improved his vision, but he looked like the heart throb guy of his younger years. My SIL is next up for this surgery - she's 78 and an active outdoors woman.

Sunglasses are so important or the skin and the eyes! I've always been bad about wearing them - but I try!

@@TheHoodedLid Keep doing the good! Sunglasses will keep the collagen and elastin in your eyelids from breaking down further AND you also want to prevent a cancer from developing in your eye area.

I usually wear a chemical sunscreen on my face because it looks better under makeup, but most of them burn my eyes, so I have to wear a mineral screen in the eye area. Do you have any trouble with the ColorScience burning your eyes?

Hi! May I ask what lip you have on? It's beautiful. This video was just what I needed. I had walked away from makeup for several years. I want to start doing something for myself.

First, I'm so glad to hear it! About the lipstick, as I was putting "them" on, I thought, I hope no one asks me because I'm not going to remember - lol. First I put on something I just don't remember, and then I put Tom Ford Spanish Pink over it. I never wear this because it's too light for me, so I'm assuming I used something in the same vein, but darker under it...I just can't remember what!

This is an awesome video. I am going through the same changes so I appreciate you sharing. Btw...how do you like the ND palette you were using? I've just got it because it's on sale and have been wanting it for a while but wasn't sure because of the reviews. I'm hoping I will like it. ND is one of my favorite brands. 🙂👍

I like the ND a lot. Been wearing that blush almost every day. I was thinking about it - there are only two colors that are "too much" for my face - but great on the eyes!

@@TheHoodedLid thank you for the feed back. I can't wait to get my palette. How about the ND eye shadow palette that you used? Do you like it? It looks like it's a split between people who like it and those who don't. Right now it's on sale for half off.

I am 45 and have hooded lids that get more hooded by the day, it seems. When I was 30, I had a Bobbi Brown MUA tell me I had "special needs eyes." Ugh.

I love you doing this series, there are always new ways of dealing with our hoods. I have always had hooded eyes, it runs in my maternal family. I swear by the Laura Merciers' caviar sticks, they are so easy to use and they don't stray for me. I also find that using an eye primer is a must for us hoodies. We had a one day Sephora sale where I had 20% off yesterday and I did pick up some goodies for myself. The thing is Sephora Australia doesn't carry that many brand to choose from, as their main competitor is an older chain and hold the rights to most "luxury" brand. There are also so many brands we can't get a hold of at all. I did pick up some sunscreens, hair products and the Dior backstage foundation as I like having the option of how much coverage I want each day. I just hope I picked the right colour and that it will work for me as we can't return any makeup here👎🏻. So if things don't work out for you, you are stuck with the products. I agree with the other comment your foundation looks beautiful today. It might have to be one I can look into once I can finally go back into any store. Sorry for my ramblings 😊Stay safe and sane 🙏🏻❤️

Yes, the sticks and the pots are a good way to go for sure. I'm confused, though, are your brick and mortar stores open now? I think I know the store you're talking about, I've watched a lot of Karima McKimmie's videos - can't remember the name of it - but she has mentioned it several times. Hope you staying safe an sane!

The Hooded Lid hi 👋 It is online shopping only, our brick an mortar stores are still closed. That is why I really hope that the shade I bought is the correct one, I haven't been able to try out the formula so I hope it will suit me. The store name is Mecca, and they pretty much have all the major brands. There isn't that many of the stores around either, they are only in the huge shopping centres and there isn't one close to me either. The level 4 restrictions that are very tuff but for me they haven't affected me very much, because I have MS I don't really get out and about that much anyway. I normally only get out 4 hours a week with a carerer to do my shopping and socialising in the community. My husband really hate shopping so it would be very rare for me to go out shopping on the weekends, it is mostly going out seeing my husbands family ( which is huge btw, mother is oldest of 13 kids and his father is the youngest of 8. They are all what I call breeders 😱😉). My family are all in Sweden, as I moved here to be with my husband, so I don't get to see them very often. We had lived all over the country and moved back to Melbourne where most of my husband's family lives so that we would have some support for my husband to "look" after me. I don't have a license, so getting out and about be myself is out of the question so my in-laws takes me to dr appointments and so on as the hubby is working. Don't get me wrong, I love my life and are still doing very well, but fatigue is a major issue for me, that is the main reason I don't get out and about much. However I still love playing around with makeup and clothing as the outside is the only thing I have control over, and I do it for me no one else. I have some older pictures on IG @swedishlina if you want to see what I look like 😊🤷🏼♀️. So al in all I'm doing just fine and I am sane, mainly due to KZbin and true crime shows. Lots of love from downunder ❤️
