Wonderful info as usual Jo on the Hooded Mergansers!! Glad that you mentioned the female too. As opposed to the other ducks in town, both male and females are cool and I would add a bit punky with their "hair" styles.

On the punk hairdo issue, you're right, Cathy. Or at least, she is. His crest is smoother and more rounded, so it reminds me less of a punk rock hairdo. I have gotten permission to use footage other people shot of a female with ducklings on her back and of the nestlings jumping out of a box. (I couldn't foresee an opportunity to get such footage myself, so I borrowed it.) All that'll be in the movie I make about her.
