I feel like the Myst games capture perfectly a feeling, best described as "as if someone was here seconds ago and has now vanished" and l love it

I was homeschooled and very sheltered. This game came out just when I was hitting puberty so I really connected with this game. This game set my imagination on fire. I would listen to the soundtrack for hours and imagine being transported to other dimensions. These worlds became so real to me. I have fully detailed memories of being in other worlds and having amazing experiences and adventures. I’ve just started writing a book detailing these adventures and I of course listen to the Riven soundtrack every time I sit down to write.

Good luck with your book. In a way I feel the still images of the original myst and riven are acruslly MORE immersive than the fully 3D versions

Thank you for making this, it's hard to find discussions on this game, especially ones that go this in-depth! As someone who also has trouble connecting with people, I always found solace in exploring environments, and Riven was instrumental in setting my tastes for adventure games going forward. So glad you felt the same way playing Riven as I did!

Now, I didn't get into the Myst games until 2010. But once I did, I was in love. And Riven is the peak, for me, and without question one of my favourite games of all time. The combination of puzzles, storytelling, exploration, atmosphere, theme... there's simply nothing quite like it. And the music, oh, it just takes me away to that unforgettable tropical archipelago, both intriguing and deeply ominous. Neither simple nor safe, as the trailer puts it.

Very well put! Riven truly is a masterpiece in nearly every aspect.

Wonderful retrospective. Really throws light on why I always felt so engrossed by this game. It’s an experience.

Absolutely spot-on. I was just thinking the isolation becomes especially apparent when you're doing the easter eggs and for example (Spoiler alert maybe?!) you get to the one with Gehn singing Opera with a goofy ending, and then it suddenly cuts back into the game, hitting you with isolation again like a bucket of cold water.

Oh, those damn disks. I lost one of them and couldn't finish the game. Even though I had no idea what I was supposed to do. Damn, did the isolation really make me feel uneasy at times. Especially in the temple. I felt like I was being watched or would be discovered and caught by Gehn.

Great video like usual, dude! Hey, I just had a question completely unrelated to the video for you Hoodz, but what do think of Starfox? Personally it is my favourite Nintendo/video gaming franchise along with Nintendo, but I would love to hear your thoughts on the franchise! Ps: What do think of Fox McCloud? (Also will you make a video on the the games considering that you like to do video game related content now?
@HoodoHoodlumsRevenge4 жыл бұрын
I haven’t played any of the Starfox games yet, but I absolutely have to get around to it someday as I’ve heard great things about them. I know of Fox, though! He seems like a real badass 😎
@gamingyoshifanatic40824 жыл бұрын
@@HoodoHoodlumsRevenge Ahh you should really try one of the games, they are really good, especially 64 and Assault! Fox is also probably my favourite fictional character of all time (along with Yoshi of course, just my pic and name should give you a hint) Fox is overall a really cool badass, but at the same time feeling very relatable, suffering from trauma of dead parents, insecurities, and other stuff. He's both awesome, but vulnerable, which is why I like him so much!

Just asking...are there people who beat this game by, literally, solving the puzzles by actually understanding the story/mysteries being conveyed to them by the creators (without any outside help)? I'm not saying it's impossible, and I didn't fully invest/obsess over the game, but it's just so subtle in conveying what's actually going on. Again, I don't doubt it can be done...I'm just wondering if anybody here really beat this game in the intended manner. Please respond if so.
