Just wanted to say thank you for this one. I was having trouble packing my vortex and getting the right amount of heat and this helped a lot. I'm barely 15 minutes into my session right now (smoking Starrbuzz Cosmo Power) and I'm already getting much better clouds and less harsh smoke, even with a 17" Junior. I just have to practice this method a little more to perfect it, but still much better than it was when i was having to end sessions 20 minutes in.

Definitely, the gage is pretty large so the draw is easy. And they are very beautiful!

For the most part, it's personal taste. Often times tall hookahs have larger openings to the hoses, and will provide less resistance and allow for a lighter drag.

I see a lot of experienced hookah smokers using a wide variety of methods for poking holes in their foil. personally I use lots of tiny holes as opposed to fewer larger holes but I was wondering if there was a conclusive argument for one method or the other being clearly better. I've always had pretty consistent and high quality hookah sessions but I am also always interested in improving my hookah knowledge

you should have put in the review for when there is anything stuck in the holes the best way to clear it out without worrying about breaking the bowl you can boil it out and its like a brand new bowl!

@Antmanpictures Have you tried using a smaller Egyptian grommet? The chinese thick ones that vortex bowls usually come with are very over sized for Egyptian pipes like KM's & MZ's.

@kevjingle DId you chain smoke the entire bowl by chance? The water level should be approximately an inch above the bottom of the stem. The diffuser won't really effect the smoke so much as it stabilizes the rig.

Hey thanks, I guess I was over packing my bowl, however I'm still amazed you're using 3 coals.. man if I use 2 even it gets harsh and burns way too quick and ruins the sesh

Ive learned how to pack the vortex bowl pretty well now thanks to you Jake. Also on that note im not lol because it seems that im not very consistent in poking the holes in the foil which is a very vital part in enjoying my session.Ive only probably gotten 2 bowls of where i can use 2 cole rotations which is very frustrating . Im pretty consistent in placing the shisha in the bowl though so that's not a problem. Any more tips or do i just need more practice? Thanks

What up jake, love the vids by the way. I got a question for the vortex bowl sometimes when I smoke and I'm using starbuzz it seems to just smoke the top half. After the first set of coals I put a second set on. Half way through the coals the flavor is gone. So I'm thinking it's done. But when to go dump it out it's only half cooked. Can u let me know what I'm doing wrong???

I followed your guidelines and whatnot as far as packing it, poking the holes, and heat management went, but I wasn't able to produce anywhere near as much smoke as you were. So I was just wondering what you did with your base. Also, I'm using Romman, not Starbuzz, so I'm wondering if that is making a significant difference as well.

Personally, I really endorse using Coconaras like in the video. They've provided me the best hookah smoking experience. Although, a lot of my friends swear on the Fantasia-brand Natural coals.

@0mgZomg I was going to do a Nakhla how-to a while back but got side tracked with a few things. Phunnel and overpack is the best for that brand. Not sure if I may have mentioned that in this video :D

@npeezy92 Might want to try a different coal like Coconara's or Chronic Hookah. They seem to work best but the two 3 kings should have worked fine as well. I would tweak your packing method a little.

@XXmynameisliamXX It's a mod. There is a heba diffuser at the end of the downstem. This breaks up the smoke into smaller bubbles. It makes the hookah quieter and the quality of the smoke better.

what groment do you use with your vortex bowl. I figure the km's are similar to the mz so the bowl port would be the same size.

@Antmanpictures On my home setup I have to use 1 Egyptian grommet and 1 Chinese slip on grommet. Even a thick Chinese should work for these.

I have seen a few variations on the hole placement on some vortex bowls, some at the bottom of the spire, some at the very top and some right in the middle. Where is the best place for the holes to be on a vortex bowl?

I just ran out of coconaras and I'm down to these exotica silver tabs and having a little trouble with heat management, can I have some tips? I used to put 4 coconara cubes and I could do one rotation and I was fine, but these tabs are driving me up the wall on my vortex bowl. I tend to smoke mostly fumari stuff, but I'm dabbling in hookahfina and hitting new roughness on both.

so i bought a razan hose and it does not fit in the hose "hole" of my 30 inch pharoah hookah...what can i do to make it fit?...the tip of my razan is too skinny and wont fit tightly...

@bumbumurmum That's the first time I've heard that! I used quicklites for a long time before I got my hands on coconara's. During the first month of using coconut coals I hated them, but then one day everything just worked perfectly once I knew how to manage the heat/tobacco ratio.

I have a vortex bowl and you showed how many holes and such but do you mean have the first 4 bigger then the rest? And I have the same size base as your hookah and I'm not sure how much water should be put in it. I normally do halfway ish a little over halfway but someone said to put water 3/4th of the way. Is that true? And also what is the best way to clean it?

+NateBoi12 hes using two because its normal foil not heavy duty, if he used one sheet of normal foil it would get too hot and be a harsh taste, 2 regular foils is the equivalent of a thick heavy duty foil, basically higher heat tolerance so less harshness

Instalight coals have chemicals that make people feel lightheaded, or nauseous, or sick. They also ash WAY more than COCO coals, which means that A) Some small ash sediment will fall into the shisha and kill the flavor, and B) Produce an absurd amount of ash, especially compared to COCONARA coals.

I'm ordering my first Hookah in a couple days here, and I'm getting a vortex bowl with it because a friend of mine uses it as well, and from experience, it's very nice compared to the traditional ones. I don't know much about the tobaccos though. On the site I'm ordering from, it's coming with Al Tawareg and Romman I guess? I'm not too knowledgable on the different brands, I just smoked the flavors and types my friends bought hahah. Are those good for the Vortex bowl? I mean, does it really matter to specifically use certain tobacco brands for it? Or is what you explained more of a "This is what you should use, but you can use anything really" type of thing?
