I thought I was good at maths but could not understand how this was going to turn a square into a rectangle but I ploughed on and lo and behold. Many thanks for explaining so well and to the clever person who developed the technique .

Robin, I've got to say THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!! I dont know why, but my brain doesn't like to comprehend rectangle anything when it comes to crochet. It took me forever to find a decent rectangle granny, so I thought it was decent until I found yours!! The one I was using always had big ole holes in the beginning because my yarn was stretching. Well, your tutorial doesn't make the yarn stretch!😊 I've always ended up making square granny c2c because I could never understand how to do the rectangle. As I said, my brain doesn't comprehend crochet rectangles for some reason. I'm going to have to watch this tutorial a few times, but I know I'll finally "get it". Thank you so much Robin, you're greatly appreciated❤🤗

I've only been crocheting since May of 24. Taught myself when I wanted to make my last baby a blanket. I self taught myself through so many videos on YT. I always heard people talking about c2c but to me it seemed so intimidating that I never bothered. Thanks to your beautiful, simple tutorial I have found my new favorite way to make blankets! No more fiddling with a chain and working up the pattern that way. Thank you so much Robin! You are a godsend ❤

I told youtube to show me what Hooked By Robin had to say, and with very little frustration, it totally clicked! Thank you SOOO much! I basically think of you as who taught me how to crochet. Now, looking at the shape this makes before I start closing it up (not sure how to say it) it looks like a perfect front panel for one side of a V-neck top... could I make 2 of these at the low point and connect them to make the front of a V-neck top?🤔🧐🤓💜💜💜

@@HookedbyRobin i haven't yet, but do you think it would work, or, I guess I should say. If it comes out as the right size shape and size of a shirt pannel, can you think of any reason why it wouldn't work? As a similar kind of question, as my baby blanket is growing, it dawns on me that this is a lovely triangle (I haven't started decreasing yet) and my mind wonders, could I make a triangle shawl this way as well? Or is there something I am not seeing about why that wouldn't work right?🤔🧐🤓💜💜💜

I've just made a blanket following this excellent tutorial and while I'm really pleased with it my tension has obviously varied because the finished shape doesnt look great, my rectangle is lopsided. While I hope I can rescue it by blocking, I'm conscious it's not going to be a permanent fix, and before I unpick it all and redo it, do you have any suggestions as to how to improve my tension so I get a truer rectangular shape? Thanks.
