Slight editing blunder at the end of the video, around a minute or so of black screen and low music - there's nothing more to see so when i say, "Until the next one, Tight Lines, that's the end"

I felt you were flustered from the off John, those days are so frustrating and we all have them, you are normally all ready way before the all in, the river fished well looking at the sheets. keep em coming please....
@HOOKEDFishingChannel2 жыл бұрын
Certainly was, they drew it late for some reason, it was supposed to be at 8.30 and was gone 9 by the time I pulled my peg, with that, the drive to the venue and then had to get the gates open as they were locked, (good job I had a key as nobody else did),. it didn't leave a whole lot of time for setup. More to come yet. 👍

Nah, I'm over it but you know what it's like Gaz, demoralising at the time, once I started catching on the waggler I felt rejuvenated. Never a waste of time these matches, just a lesson learned on the way to being a more knowledgeable angler.

The weed & boats were a pain in my peg as well John, lost 3 decent roach & a big perch in first hour & then only caught small roach & dace. Ed Bridon to my right had 25lb+ & Tom Pickering 14lb+ to my left both on pole, fished maggot then caster, hemp & tares, both caught quality roach. I went on tip to find some bonus fish as was well behind in zone, which was a mistake but I should have tried the waggler a lot earlier. Felt they were further out but had same problem with steep banking, you live & learn. Was a pleasure meeting you at the draw & keep producing these great videos!! The water skier didnt get up as far as us, hopefully fell in the knob!!

Hi Steven, good to know I wasn't the only one suffering, I feel your pain 😉. Amazingly I didn't lose any fish for once! I can't understand why they moved out further and others caught on the pole all day but it's definitely one to put in the lessons learned box. I tried waggler early on but only half depth, should have set it up full depth from the off. Hindsight eh!

Just found this channel, excellent stuff. I used to live in Selby and recognise a fair few venues that I used to fish like the Aire and Southfield, not in matches, I only briefly dabbled in club matches when I was a junior with Wheatsheaf AC at Sherburn in Elmet. Looking forward to going through your videos even though I only really game fish now, tight lines 👍

Yes these matches aren't easy to qualify on but if you don't challenge yourself.you'll never improve. Of course you need a good drawing arm and a lot of luck, sometimes we make our own luck and I didn't get to manufacturing it until 3.5hrs in. Lesson learned. Glad you enjoyed the video David, tight lines 🎣

nice looking venue that... and the weights were relatively fair not the usual '35lb off one peg everyone else 2.6lb silver' ... thats proper match fishing when you are working hard for every bite.... hindsight from my armchair.... maybee slowly bring your loosefeed closer and get them faster/easier on 5m whip to hand..? and the quiet moments try the worm down the edge for bonus perch maybee.... but enjoyable vid to watch nice one..
@HOOKEDFishingChannel2 жыл бұрын
I thought about whip and an edge line but last year I tried both those things on a similar weed fringed peg on the Aire and they weren't successful, that's not to say there wasn't any perch in that peg. I take your point about the feed, something I often try to do is bring them closer, I didn't have time to set the whip up as well but could have fished shorter on the pole but the bites just weren't there at 11m, some of that feed fell inside 11m so I don't know for sure but I think there were pike lurking in ambush which was making them dart around the weed cover when landing them and also kept them hanging back. Glad you enjoyed it, warts and all.👍

Brilliant mate, that's what I like to hear. It doesn't matter what gear you've got or style of fishing, I'm not the kind of person to tell everyone how to do it, I just share my experiences and it's great that they help so many people either start, get back into the sport after a lay off or just improve their own skills. Small things in the back of the mind that really shouldn't bother you start to eat away and before you know where you are the mood has been set , we've all done it ' did you fish a bad match ? No you didn't, would I have done it differently? Yes I bloody hate pole fishing 🤣🤣🤣🤣 so both wag rods would have had a run out . You could go back in that peg tomorrow and fish the pole tares ' hemp ' berries etc and bag up , and catch bugger all on the wag and maggots ' next one has your name on it . 👍 I've seen it in the tea leaves 🤣them new tea bags the sort the chimp's drink are shite the only have to see a teaspoon and boom they go off like hand grenade. 🤣🤣🤣
