Great video. I'm 51 and my wife and I have been trying to get our 22-year-old daughter to understand this. She just doesn't / won't. Her older sister is happily married, has only had him as a sexual partner, and they now have their first child. She's going from one toxic relationship to another and one inappropriate tiktok to another. That's not how she was raised, how our marriage functions (married 27 years), or how her siblings behave. As a 34yo looking to having kids soon, this is my worst nightmare. And I know you dont want to hear this, but it is probably worse than you think. Do your best not to dwell on it. You did the best job you could. The social media driven culture is pervasive and destructive. Lack of instilling virtuous values and the value of family and instead unhealthy messages like prioritizing career and hookup culture as well as unreasonable standards is the reason for this. Historically studies have shown the most stable societies in history are those where monogamous marriage was the norm. As a guy who’s dabbled, and has seen friends dive all the way in, it hurts guys just as much. The amount of drama I’ve watched the fellas go through…reputations being drug through the dirt, disease, money and time lost, frustration, invasions of privacy, pretty much chaos. The life of a fuck boy isn’t boring in the least, but it isn’t happy. A lot of pain occurs along the way. But don’t feel bad for the guys. It’s kind of funny. We’re our own worst enemy in general And all the partying and clubbing, it’s hard to make your way through. And it’s hard to get out of. as a M25, i feel like hookup culture is bad for both men and women. the constant mind games, being ghosted, being haunted by memories of women that used you for sex and then ditched you after two times, the emotional component that always comes even with purely sexual encounters. it is exhausting and can lead into a downward spiral easily. i have participated in hookup culture very extensively over the past two years and while it surely helped me get more relaxed in dating situations and reassured me of my sexual desirability, i have never been more doubtful about my own loveworthiness as i am right now. it feels like my brain has gone through a few dozen of micro-breakups and each one will suck out your soul a little more

Very true, but this shows why Feminism is such a childish ideology. Men never have a choice. They do what needs to be done. And before Feminist ideology was introduced, so did women. Most women weren't Feminists during the push for "women's rights". Look it up. They thought that if Feminists succeeded, they would have had to do the same responsibilities as men if given the right to vote, that is, hard and high risk manual labor outside the home and fighting in wars. 34M here.. I am partying more than ever with my wife. We go to lots of raves but just have a scoop of pre-workout and go sober! Lastly, bodycount really matters and you should be judged on it. I would take the time in my 20s to work on myself with college, taking up desired hobbies, traveling (when possible) and being closer to God. I also do not wish to have children due to the fear of giving childbirth (studies show that black women tend to be more prone to death when giving birth) and not having the mental, emotional and physical capacities to do so. If I were to have children, it would be through adoption at a later age. I would also like a partner that shares similar ideals of education, religion, income, and family. But I trust in God’s timing to send me that lifestyle. Until then, I agree with this video! ❤❤❤❤

You made very interesting points in the video. I'm writing this comment to push the conversation a bit further. I'll be pushing back on some of your points although I agree with a lot of what you said (ex living your 20s is not about partying) I'm 25M in a long term relationship. Can we stop doing the women/ men dichotomy for a second? As much as hookup culture is detrimental to women, it is also detrimental to men. Everyone is looking for closeness and building relationships that last while adding meaning! It's true that it might appear that men are only looking to hookup because it is socially valuable, but all men I know on a more personal level don't really care about hooking up with as many people as possible. And when they do, it's often out of insecurity or because it's the only way they found to get closeness so far because of their issues. Also, you mentioned this breifly but let's not forget that although the "heterosexual women" you're talking about in your video are the vast majority of people, there are asexual women, women who wish to focus on professional projects and who wish to hookup to get some closeness without the time commitment, polyamourous women and women who really, really like sex! One last thing, about the nurturing biological aspect of women. Research is mixed on whether women are truly more nurturing of whether it's just social expectations and a difference in style of nurturing. I'll give you that my intuition is also that the biological drive is strong but god knows that evolutionarily, a father with no nurturing behavior for their child and family would leave his wife and kids much more vulnerable (still, this is a speculation). My point about all of this is: when we talk about these topics, it feels like men and women, the tone often feels like we are in a tug of war to obtain different things and that we have to be weary of each other. I think that this mode of thinking is detrimental for both sexes, as we often reach better results with a collaborative attitude, trying to find common grounds, rather than an antagonistic one. I think this place is a good place to have this conversation. iv never touched hook up culture but I think hookup culture has a lot to do with why I have been very uncomfortable dating from the start. when I was young(15ish) a dipsh*t said I was un-F*ckable(I am average in appearance, solid 5). I think hookup culture has instilled unreasonable beauty/grooming standards for both men and women too. I'm allergic to most make-up, I don't dress skimpy, have a dark humor and iv got a morbid curiosity and like to talk about gross stuff(but I'm not goth or alternative). iv have sat outside of most spheres but I still desire my own circle to dwell and grow. but iv struggled to find my person because I don't want to hold myself to the standard of others because I cant meet that standard. I'm 28 and starting to regret not participating because I feel just alone. its such a complicated feeling never having been and faced with never being apart of someone's life. most my problem stems from being in a small town and not wanting to sing the song of my people too.

So glad to see young women speaking up about this MASSIVE issue. She is 100% right. Hookup culture ultimately benefits men over the long term because women lose value over time whereas men increase their value with every conquest. I live in San Francisco and I see TONS of single career women over 35 absolutely desperate to have a serious relationship but unable because the pool of single good men at that age is VERY limited. I just don't understand how men gain worth by being a womanizer and sleeping with prostitutes. Also having a high chances of getting an STD and accidentally getting a woman pregnant. How exactly does that make a man valuable? I'm an 18 year old female and I find that utterly repulsive because the higher a man's body count the less likely he will be able to truly bond with a female. Plus if he does get married and has a body count of 100+ who is he going to marry? Hell, even some of the top guys don't. 1) Speaking as a man, I wanted a committed relationship, but what I got to see was promiscuous women left and right. Some of whom flirted with me, then called me creepy when I reciprocated with flowers and boyfriend attitude (whereas they wanted to sleep with me). That whole thing sent me down a very self-destructive path where I tried to over-compensate what I already had (a STEM degree with a job that paid in the 80th percentile, and a very decent shot at municipal director of my department by age 24). The presence of hook-up culture can be catastrophic to both women AND men. 2) Historically, men have been equally or even treated worst. Only a lack of historical knowledge can assume the otherwise. Look no further than 100 years ago: nearly 60% of males were MASSACRED within the Russian Empire, and the USSR. 60% !!! Historically, women have been inconvenienced by the occasional ra*e, whereas men have been executed in mass: systematically. At worst, a woman could be treated like a man: Ghengis Khan was truly the gender equalitarian: he would raze entire towns to ashes, without a sole surviving woman. Under his governance, resisting populations would be made equal: transformed into human liquid grease, with fatty tissues to be used in his next conquests. The Chinese Emperor haven't been much kinder to men, nor the Ottomens and Barbari who happily enslaved white men, etc. And that's when treated as pure "human meat". But even without: men jobs were no easy things. Ever heard of mines? From salt to marble to lumber, all manner of jobs were outright deadly and nasty during the best of times. Agriculture was perhaps more egualitarian: both genders typically had to get their hands dirty with manure. I am a man who used age teenage-30 to remain single and understand the world first, understand people/relationship first before mingling with another life. The sacrifice and effort was worth it heart, mind, body and soul remains original and clean/clear for the right girl/relationship. @@maria-zn7jd It's interesting that the main thing that makes you feel pressured isn't that you want it. It's that other people are doing it. Teenage years have a lot of pressure to conform to the group. You'll find friends will try to pressure you into doing things and part of the reason is they want a group where everyone conforms. Individuality gets crushed. Also, they'll pressure you into it so they can feel better about their own terrible choices. If someone else lives differently than them then that shows that they could've lived differently, too. They want to believe that what they've done couldn't have been avoided. But all they needed to do was make different choices. Keep strong to your convictions. Find ways to get support so you don't feel like the only one. Perhaps on the internet, perhaps in a church youth group if you can find one that still keeps the true standards. But remember you're not the only one even if it sometimes feels like it. Lifetime monogamy is the best way but the world wants to feel good about being terrible.

This is a very thoughtful analysis free of insults or shaming or ridicule, and I very much agree with most of your points except for one: hookup culture is an ELITE man's game; 90% of us are excluded from this right off the bat by the impossible "Superman" standards women have for dating today. I am Asian-American and always been overlooked in this country (yes, South Asia is in Asia :P). The most perplexing and infuriating aspect of this is that as a non-player man, I am punished for the deeds of unscrupulous men who came before me when dating anyone in this culture who will even give me a chance. Solitude in peace is far better than being a woman's 4th choice after all the bad boys have used and dumped her.

With as bad as hook up culture is getting, you're lucky if you're her 4th choice instead of 14th. But yes, you're exactly right about everything you said. Hookup culture only benefits a small percentage of men. Even for them it's only short term benefit because a man who participates only reward is easy sex and he will be damaged, just maybe not as quickly or severely as women. And that's not including the overall damage to society as a whole. This is how a civilization is weakened and then collapses when it's stressed.

Human are not meant for hookup culture. For females: Natural beauty, shyness, virginity (attractive to righteous dedicated men, who sacrifice their lives and remain patient while building the life/house/etc for future wife and kids), fear for sex, 9months pregnancy, emotional bonding, fertility, etc has its purpose. Just because someone invented birth control we should not forget who we really are: Valuable precious heart/mind/body/soul.
