Sweet! I'm actually reassembling that exact version of the 5.2 v10 at work right now. I'd highly recommend taking apart and disassembling the intake manifold, remove all the flaps, and have the ecu retuned. those plastic flaps soaked in oil along with carbon buildup tends to break off and eventually enter through the intake valves. If you're lucky, it'll go through the motor and maybe wreck a spark plug causing a misfire, if you're unlucky it'll hang up an intake valve and either smack the piston or pop the rocker arms off to go for a dance in the head. the oil cooler buried beside the block, sandwiched by the alternator, also tends to leak oil through the o-rings. Those motors actually handle centrifugal superchargers pretty well too, especially with methanol injection. I'd be hesitant to push for peaky low end torque as it'll detonate excessively even with meth, so the steady rpm to boost ratio of those superchargers seem to be ideal. good luck with the build!

Better than the alternative that happened to someone i know through friends. He bought one of these impound lot cars, very similar story. Five months in, he woke up in the middle of the night, dog barking mad, yard lights in full swing...someone was stealing his car. Turns out, guy who had the car impounded was a smuggler, and somehow, SOMEHOW, nobody in the polish found out, and the guy was there to recover (covertly through theft) the smuggled items (don't ask me what, i don't know, like i said, this happened to an acquaintance). It unfolded into the dog breaking a tooth inside the thief(former owner)'s leg, cops being called, an ambulance, and our guy losing the car, because it became evidence. It was returned like a year after, a bit torn up. The car was a 1994 Audi, and all this affair happened in France.

@@brian_scotto there’s probably more issues but low oil pressure is a concern for sure. Enjoy it and I can’t wait to see that v10 get put to work

@@brian_scotto I bought a 95 e class Benz with a 4.2 liter v8, ran like shit, turns out Mercedes used biodegradable insulation on the wiring harnesses so after 20+ they turn to dust. I replaced that with an updated one and gave the ignition system an overhaul and it runs great. I also got a little wrench therapy in, it’s a win win win

In the wheel well where the empty space is up the back looks like there's a spot for the good old double ended screwdriver that was in the older VAG cars.

The V10 and the turbo VR6 both sound like great ideas. IMO can’t go wrong with either one.

Now I am looking for another Audi. My buddies dad had one of these and we would get him to be our designated driver back in the day. These were great cars to pass out in on the way home as long as we were not hauling ass

Good job Scotto! Huge fan of the S8 V10's myself. Hell the whole A8 platform! Then there's the "King Ding-a-ling" W12! LOVE a big body car that can get out of it's own way! If you'd done the "W12 twin turbo/Bentley hack thingy", I would've turned my back to Hoonigan forever. Excited to see what big twin things may come from the big man.

Ronin, one of the greatest movies imo. I remember seeing it for the first time when I was 7, fell in love with the car chase scenes. And the S8 being a stand out vehicle in that movie.

17:03 its also standard weird old swedish car fashion. The whole floor of the trunk of Volvo 850's and V70 1st gen is made of plywood. :) But when you think about it wood actually has great properties when it comes to noise reduction and strength/weight.

My cousin had 2 D1 S8. 1 modified and 1 stock. Modified S8 had a supercharger made 500 hp to all 4 wheels later on he turbo'd it made over 650 hp. He sold it later to some spanish guy in Spain. I have the V10 D3. Added a supercharger and custom mounting plates and bought a 9k € carbon fiber bonnet because my supercharger sticks out a little on top.

Check the window regulator clips. Easy fix but time consuming from what I remember. When they break the glass gets off track which causes resistance. The window safety feature causes the window to go down when you press the up button to keep bad ass kids from getting decapitated. I had the same issue on my B5 S4 back in the day.

Couple things. 1. 2.7t swap is king 2. The oil pressure light may just be from it having a low oil level previously and the light is staying on for a bit. My b6 a4 leaks a little oil (shocker) and I left it with my friend for a week or so. He let it get super low and the light turned on, I threw some oil in it and it didn't reset the pressure light for like 3 days.

Dope pick up Scotto. The window problem might be the plastic clips they put on the wire system. When the clips break the wire binds a bit and won't go up. Kind of a pain but not terrible to fix.
