I caught an interview with Grant Hill from after he had retired. As a teen, he and some cronies got to visit the Piston's locker room after a Piston's game. Rodman had played 40 plus minutes, but he was on a stationary bike putting in his 2 hours of carido after laying it all out on the floor. The other part of that interview was that as Rodman was working out he was engage with those young players and he's the Piston that asked them to come hang out with him at his place and play video games. Dennis Rodman acted out in a weird way to the rest of the world, but inside it appears he was a really decent person.

With this new era of the basketball, big men aren't nearly concerned at grabbing boards than they are at scoring or defense, like many old heads say, rebounds is becoming a lost art. I'd say Rodman could possibly grab even more rebounds than he did in the 90s with how much effort he put into it.
@RafsanS153 жыл бұрын
maybe this was the reason why his Spurs lost against Rockets at 95 WCF. He prefers to stay at his lane instead nullifying Horry ability to stretch the floor
@cloudmoore2834 Жыл бұрын
Maybe he would grab more boards, if he could get a job. Number 1 he can’t shoot and nowadays not shooting is a big problem because spacing is a big thing now. So you can’t be just trying to get position for rebounds because now you’re clogging driving lanes and making the paint more congested in general. Rodman would have to sit in the corner and run in for rebounds whilst cutting. And if he didn’t get the rebound teams are now faster than ever in transition and he’d be stuck in a bad spot. Probably leading to a transition 3.

Mind Games is definitely #1 If you can get into your opposites' head, it doesn't matter if he can shoot 3's at will in training. If he's more worried about where you are and what you are doing, he won't shoot anywhere near his best. Same goes for rebounds. If you psych someone out by firing them up so they want to take you out of the game rather than get the rebound, or they are worried about getting hit by you during a rebound contest they won't challenge every time. Leaving you with more chances to cleanly steal the rebound. Or just wait out their temper for them to get fouled out of the game.

My takeaways from this video: - Rebounds are an effort stat; the more want and effort, the more rebounds - Use film to study where rebounds will go from what type of shots and misses - Athleticism is key, specifically cardio and jumping, especially second and third jumps without a maximal approach - As an undersized player, use little taps to move the ball to a more accessible place to secure the rebound. - Judo, or preventing the opponent from moving, and using agility to gain a quickness advantage (this is a risky one, since it is a foul) - Try using mind games to gain a psychological advantage; bait the opponent into focusing more on yourself than on rebounding and playing the game.

My Forward knew what I was doing and get to 3 pt. line. I'd spin on my inside foot pass. Part of the time my elbow would get the other guy in the jaw and the ref would never see it.

That's probably why they got along. Jackson brought it together but when Rodman and Jordan had to work without Pippen, they realized they both had the drive. Jordan needed any competitive edge to get him to that level slight (real or imaginary) while Rodman was all about the body language, angles, game film he was that other dimension. Pippen was the balance between the two good cop to Jordan's bad cop (which threw off opponents when he "broke character") and a great defender (10 time all-defence first team one more than Jordan and 2 more the Rodman). That trio, in the second 3-peat were unstoppable.

bad assessment. Barkley and Moses didn't put in the effort on the defensive end like Rodman did. You're making it sound like they had to expend more overall effort throughout a game, but that's not true at all. Rodman didn't score, but he still ran the triangle and doubled down on defense. Moses and Barkley aren't even remotely close to Rodman when it comes to rebounding. The only players in his stratosphere are Wilt and Bill.
