this man Gary Payton ll is criminally underrated and warriors know how to lift these guys up and develop their game aswell. Warriors scouting is one of the best if not the best in the league. they got jordan poole and turned him into a superstar. they managed to steal kuminga and moody and now have scouted payton ll.

This is in part the reason I believe the media has been exaggerating Draymond Green's absence. Don't get me wrong: Draymond Green has high basketball I.Q. and is Golden State's best all around defender. His value however comes from his experience playing with Steph and Klay. It's not that they were/are in trouble without him. Golden State Warriors were doing pretty well in the beginning of his absence, but when Andre Iguodala didn't return to the line up due to back issues, as well as brief stints from Otto Porter Jr, and the "thief" Gary Payton II would not play, that's when Golden State started their losing streak. It's not just the absence of Draymond Green; it's the absence of Andre Iguodala--one of their best perimeter defenders, and Gary Payton II, their best on-ball defender, and Otto Porter Jr. one of their best shot blockers.

Nah, its Draymond's passing coupled with his defense thats what is talked about. If you're the main option AND the ball handlers, y ou're gonna suffer. Case and point Steph without someone like Poole or Draymond, and Butler last season. Some part of the game suffers without the reliable ball handler option.

steals is the new trend for bball players these days i've noticed. but yea the most common steals i see is from GP2 honestly, i agree w Klay, watching basketball is so boring now and got boring real quick until i watched GP2's defensive skills every team needs at least 1 player who is so good on defense. don't they teach this shi in basketball clinics? lol if u know u ain't good at shooting, u might as well go for being a defensive player instead. way more important tbh good defense can lead to offense. but when have u heard of good offense is better than defense?

I was never on this kind of level, but all the tenacity and focus GP2 spends on the defensive end is after my own heart. I always wanted to take down the offensive player and give them nothing. I consistently would pick up the ball well before they crossed half-court, constantly taking chances to strip, slap, or punch the ball away. Picking off a lazy inbounds for a layup was pure joy for me. It’s great to see NBA players embody these defensive principles and use them to put their team in position to win. 👍
@anonymwho7263 Жыл бұрын
I said after they traded him the warriors would lose 25% of their games compared to the previous year. I was wrong GSW defense was doing even worse than that. Everyone came for me in the comments like GP2 is a non-factor clearly those people don't know basketball. Defense wins Championships. Warriors open court and on-ball defense is abysmal this year. If it wasnt for Donte and Kuminga stepping up they'd have ZERO road wins this year.

While defensive players need to learn about their opponents (ALL of them), and their tactics. Am I seeing this right? I noticed the 3 steals per 36, but how about the 14.9PPG on 61.2% shooting from the field and 36.4% from 3 to go with 7 rebounds. Not saying he could do that if he actually played 36 minutes a game, but when he DOES play, the dude is making an impact! I think he could potentially grow to be a very decent starting PG. Hmmm...sound familiar??
