@JoeFarrier-ft3hyNah. Pop's greatness is not just seen in his own accolades, but also the people he has trained. Like steve kerr, who took his principles of offense to the warriors and completely changed their franchise. Or becky hammon, who went on to take over the WNBA. Or kawhi, who came into the league as a 3 and D spot up shooter...but pop saw the greatness in him, and steadily helped him evolve into a kobe like superstar
@sovereignruler Жыл бұрын
@@kuruptzZz Keep telling yourself that pal. Phil Jackson all the way. No other team three-peated twice, save for the bulls. Phil accomplished it three times, once with the Lakers, and twice with the Bulls. The historical record has Phil at the top w/ Pat Riley, Greg Popavich a distant second. Make no mistake, Popavich is a great coach in his own right. If he puts the pieces around VW, there's no telling how many more championships he'll win. What I love about Victor is his attitude; the NBA is just another playground for him, and he fits in quite nicely. With some time and some added muscle weight to his frame, he'll be a force in this league and the Spurs will become the team to beat.
@kuruptzZz Жыл бұрын
@@sovereignruler You don't think popovich could've done similarly with those legendary rosters? I do. But who knows. I think they are equally great in their own way. Jackson at managing superstars egos and getting them to buy in (easier said than done)...and popovich for getting the most out of his guys and helping them reach their peak
@sovereignruler Жыл бұрын
@@kuruptzZz Is it possible? Sure. However, He wasn't the caretaker of such a talent pool. So, we can only evaluate him on his record and the talent he coached. Having said that, his overall performance is legendary on its own, and he certainly did manage to bring the best out of his players. Five championships is nothing to sneeze at pal.

"I think one has to be careful not to assume you have the answers." This is why I love Pop. In an age where we have know-it-all politicians, social media personalities, etc, with an answer for everything---98% of which is false, lies, or purposely misleading, by the way---it's refreshing to see even a GOAT coach humble enough to know when he might not know something. That's a skill in and of itself, and one not many people have (or want to have).

"his parents have already done the job". We need parents (a role model, any of them must be consistent and coherent), teachers (social and scientific knowledge in public schools) and coaches (emotional intelligence and leadership). The balance of the latter three factors is what defines Wembanyama. "He's from Europe, they have culture, speak languages, they travel, they are knowledgeable, they are civil". Pops, you nailed it. In Europe we learn two things: there is no race, everyone is equal. Allez Victor, continue d'écrire ta jeune histoire, le meilleurs est à venir

@@bigpoppa3999 it matters when people get fanatic and ignorant, like the new generations that get idiocy on social media instead of public schools. Otherwise, you will never see a serious european politician or official saying "god bless spain, god bless france, god bless germany". Or taking an oath on a bible. Or saying the classic "our thoughts and prayers" after a mass shooting. Since the ens of the 19th century there has been a rational way to try to erradicate superstition. There is still some work to be done, especially about getting rid of toxic nationalism and faschist neopopulism, which severily affected the 20th century. In modern europe race and religion are not taken as a political way to define people's identity. They value a united mation and a collective duty towards society, not faced on the individual. Well, at least that was in my youth. The problem is there is a new, virulent influx of radicalized young muslism (some christians as well, to be fair) that get this toxic influence of the us backed evangelicals and rich emirates funding them. All of them are flatearthers and science deniers, therefore ignorant. That will be the major issue in the next years.
