He looks exactly like footage of rookie and pre-rookie Wilt. The unstoppable combination of length, finesse, coordination and mobility. He doesn't have Wilt's powerful athleticism but he has 3 inches of height and 5 inches of wingspan to make up for it. This really is a couple-times-in-a-century physical specimen absolutely built for basketball. Growing up in the modern era with bigs expected to be stretching the floor and without crowding in the lane he's almost exactly a what-if of Wilt in the modern game.
@Leptyzz Жыл бұрын

@@Leptyzz Please don't insult me. Wilt absolutely had guard skills, he often ran the fast break and he even led the league in assists. But things were different back then and he was expected to get to work around the rim. Like I said, "Growing up in the modern era with bigs expected to be stretching the floor and without crowding in the lane he's almost exactly a what-if of Wilt in the modern game." They're comparable in that they're both impossible combinations of length and mobility and that's why they're kinda broken. The game isn't built to handle guys who are that long and that quick, and they can get their hands to the ball essentially anywhere. Wemby has more length, wilt had more strength, but the comparison is there and it isn't "Low IQ".

I don’t know about putting Giannis-like muscle mass since if you search some footage of Giannis’ jumper early in his career, it’s much more fluid and has more touch, which indicates putting that much weight could affect some of his skills. They need to find the right spot when it comes to that department. What I do know is that Wemby is already flexible and agile enough. Once he matures into his adult body and “see” the league once, I believe he will develop into one of the greats. Hope he stays healthy for a long time!

i dont think he will be injury prone either , but i get the feeling he will eventually get injured this season as his minutes climb up and he sees more physical play. playing him with another big is a good sign tho, since it can take the pressure off him when they go up against bruisers like giannis and embiid on some possessions. he is very light and not that strong so he will probably get pushed around a ton on post ups and screens which can be pretty bad, but i dont see him getting injured on vertical plays since he seems to be very aware of his own body, which again bodes well for the more serious injuries

He is doing what I expected. It absolutely irritates me the disrespect many Americans have for top Euro leagues. Those teams will crush the top college teams. The French league is an elite league with grown men many of which either played in the NBA, got drafted by the NBA, or were D1 stars. The lanes are way more congested than the NBA's more spaced out league which actually makes it hard to score and against grown men he found a way to by averaging 21.6 points as in 18 year old. The one thing I knew he had to adjust to is the NBA tempo and raw athleticism, but he is freak, so I knew it wouldn't take long for him to do it. He will be the face of the league for the next 15 years as long as he stays healthy.

weight training is a thing athletes do bc it helps, not only on the court but in preventing injury, him becoming stronger will improve his joint stability, will make it harder to move him mid air and on screens plus increase his bone density and muscle quality, which not only prevents injuries but make it easier to come back from them. embiid for and example had his worst injury was when he was much lighter than his current playing weight.

The difference is that Kareem played mostly in the low block because that was the style of play. But I think doing so also kept him relatively healthy and allowed him to play 20 years. Hope he maintains & enhances his silky smooth jumper. Giannis had a cleaner and more reliable jumper in his rookie year than he does now. That went away with massive gains in muscle mass. Hopefully the same doesn’t occur with Wemby.

if Wemby stays healthy, there is a good chance that he will develop in one of the best big men of all time.

The spurs won the lottery last summer…the only thing I’d like to say is that so far Wemby is not a good rebounder for his size…the most rebs he had was 10 but he finished other games with 4-5…
