A Bar Band. Cool. Good place to hear Mustang Sally. My daughter named after her gramma. Great song. Great band. She doesn’t have a Mustang. But texting her this wonderful song will make her very happy listening to it. Thanks for sharing with us!!

Hootie and the Blowfish are THE definition of a bar band. I have loved them since seeing them play hole in the wall places in Charleston and Columbia SC. Thanks for upping this.

Reminds me of my late Dad. Back in the day (80's), I had a '68 Mustang Fastback and he would call me Mustang Sally and sing this to me all the time! I miss him (and the Mustang) dearly! ☹ Great cover! 💔

Used to see them back at the Music Farm back in the early 90's. Great band! Darius can really shred this song in a good way. Think he got pretty tired of always doing it. Glad Hootie had their moment of fame. Great band!

Does anything in America ever reach a potential where no one comments? No one criticizes, no one condemns, every one agrees and all find the topic being some thing worth while? Controversy is rampant in this nation...I came to this video to listen to see what quality these guys could add to an already fabulous song. After listening the comment section came up.....and Oh brother all these reviews are no reviews at all just a bunch of people who don't know how to play anything...but a radio...a CD player, or itunes on their cell phones. If you can't be positive....who do you think wants to hear your scorn and negativity?
@schmodedo8 жыл бұрын
I understand your sentiment and agree to a point. However, as a musician myself, who has played this same song countless times, I think I'm in a position to critique this version to some extent. The tempo was all over the place. Yes, sometimes it was intentional, and that's acceptable. But at other points where the beat should be straightforward, it was a roller coaster ride. The musicianship was good, but nothing exceptional. Does it suck...NO. Was it awesome...NO. Was the song better than any one of the "zillion" times I played it ? That depends on who you ask and the musicians I was playing with.
@steviea4278 жыл бұрын
@ Mike Smith, Exactly Mike, you are dead on. Classic 12 bar blues is the way musicians who never played with each other (or sometimes even met) can get together. The point is to jam and try to fit together, which will never happen the first time. Everybody has to feel each other out and constantly adjust. To see an amazing, (amazingly bad that is), example of this look up on YT the "Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus." They put John Lennon (rhythm and vocals), Eric Clapton (lead guitar) and Keith Richards (bass) together, without any rehearsal, and tried to play "Yer Blues" by Lennon. It was embarrassingly bad. Even guitar heroes can have a bad jam when they haven't worked together before. Darius and the others did better than should be expected for a cold jam in front of a big crowd. IMO of course. Peace Mike, Steve.
@steviea4278 жыл бұрын
P.S. Other good examples of musicians not ready to play together and just going for it in front of an audience can be seen in the videos of just about every Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction.
@schmodedo8 жыл бұрын
steviea427 Thanks dude. As a musician I've been the "victim" of many an impromptu jam. Predicting the outcome of such an event is nearly impossible. I could call five very talented friends of mine today and cover this song impeccably. On the flip side, I could call five equally talented friends and completely torture it. To James' point, I do think too many have found reason, warranted or not, to disagree with each other in a most uncivil manner. I think we've both shown that you can criticize without insults.

He started out as HOOTIE so why not call him this. People just making a big deal out of nothing. I would think he would appreciate being called this becuz this would mean the person has been following from the beginning.
