Congrats on getting an American machine, Roger! I’ve done the exact same thing with vacuums from the UK in my collection. The only difference is that I use a step-up converter to kick our 120V current up to the 240V needed by my machines. You can see some of the UK machines I own in my KZbin videos, if you’re interested. Meantime, enjoy your new machine!

Yes, I watched a lot of your videos before I started my channel. Now I have started importing American machines I can't stop, but it's getting quite expensive.

ibaisaic I know the feeling! It’s equally expensive to get European machines these days, so I have to be really choosy. I used to have an Electrolux 345 that I hope someday to replace: it got water-damaged in storage, and I’ve been looking for a replacement. Wish me luck!

Thank you for this i was looking at reviews because i can afford to replace our Electrolux , mine arrived today

Yes the bag is definitely longer than the one we had. Ours was an older model too, switch different and handle as well. Black case and orange cord. The floor head on ours was a little different as well. I wish we would've known about the paper bags, that would've made a huge difference.

I have a simplicity synergy, 11 years of use and still going strong. The only thing repaired was the cord failed and the hose ripped after 8 years of average use. Great machines.

Hi Roger thats amazing dident know Hoover still made them we had porta power in Australia in the late 70s😮

Very nice. So nice of you to go threw these efforts Roger. I use shake out bags in my Mighty Mites but I have HEPA filters on the back. One benefit is the high airflow that comes with cloth bags.

I have the Hoover port a power and the SEBO Felix vacuums being used in my cleaning company. I like them very much. The Hoover also has the cloth case to wrap around it for safety and it also has a pouch on the side so to keep all the attachments in it. Thanks for another great video.Looking good in those black jeans Roger. LOL

Awesome! That's the one we had but no attachments. It was found in the trash at a commercial account, so we had to clean it out and it worked perfectly after it was unclogged. I made my husband throw it away after we used it during our cats' months of ringworm experience. I certainly didn't want to risk reintroducing that anywhere in the house again. What a nightmare that was.
@ibaisaic7 жыл бұрын
I don't think a vacuum cleaner can get ringworm, but you can't be too careful. 😀

ibaisaic 😂 no but after that I was the bleach queen extreme with everything, I had sealed my air ducts as well in that room and bleached the ducts as best I could too. Floors, walls, ceilings, everything was bleached weekly that whole summer. Fortunately it was a mild one so open windows most of the time. A friend's son brought it with him I suspect, fortunately no humans got it but the poor kitties had a terrible summer.
@stiksmommy50797 жыл бұрын
In hindsight I wish I would've just bleached the vac too, I thought I might ruin it though. Oh well.

You wold have to take it outdoors, preferably in the back of your car while at a carwash, and dismantle it, use the carwash vacuum to suck out the inside of the motor area and all that, and a canned air duster to blow it out while holding the hose above it. Then bring it back home and wash all the non-electrical plastic parts in hot soapy water. Reassemble and done. You don't want to do it in your backyard or anywhere near your home as it would spread them all over again. I do the same with vacuums I get off the curb in case they have fleas or god knows what else inside. I throw out the filters period regardless if they are still good or not. I'd rather spend the $10-$30 on a new filter than to get some pest infection.

Hi Roger, it's Mike from the United States. I'm also a vacuum collector, I currently have 46 of them, including several canisters, central vacuum units and backpack machines. I don't like uprights, I much prefer any type of canister. I have a suggestion of something you may want to see about getting. It's actually made by Tacony and it's called the volt power nozzle, it's also known as the hide a hose CX1000. This is a rechargeable power nozzle that will connect to any vacuum hose with a 32 MM size. Not only is it a power nozzle, but it also has its own fan, so it will turn any canister cleaner in to a tandom air canister machine. I would love to see you demo that with a Henry or one of your other canisters. I'm not sure how costly it would be to get this nozzle but it may be worth it since you can use it with any of your canisters that use a 32 MM hose end. Once you try this nozzle, you will never use a turbine nozzle again, there is no comparison. The other machine I would suggest you look at is also made by Tacony, it's called the Riccar Prima or Simplicity Wonder, same machine, this is an awesome canister that is very quiet and you can choose several different power nozzles, I would just get the two row full size power nozzle, the other ones are more expensive. Anyway, love the channel for sure.

I have one just like it but it's orange, has a 25 ft cord and has "Heavy Duty" printed on it. It's good for cleaning stairs and furniture.

In my opinion, that Hoover bare floor brush is the best design I have ever seen - excepting the Miele Parquet and the Shark Microfibre tools. The centrally positioned brush strip allows dirt pick-up on both the forward stroke and back stroke, and the compact size allows it to sneak into tight spots around furniture and toilets. No snowplowing with this brush! Also, I think the new grey style is designed to match TTI’s new Hoover HushTone Commercial line - these are all grey with orange accents. Enjoy your American Hoover!

Great. I have the reverse colour way of that machine, i.e. orange with black detail. That one actually was made in Canton, OH. Looking forward to seeing your Concept One too.

Apparently this model was assembled in the Oreck plant in Cookeville TN.
@jackdehavilland71257 жыл бұрын
ibaisaic yes, production was shifted to there and other locations after the closure of the Canton Plant. As I say my orange one was made in Canton and I also have the black version of yours, also made there. It’s largely the same as yours though the motor is different and there are a few other detail differences.

I didn't even know that Hoover's commercial machines were assembled here in the States. I thought TTI moved everything to China. I don't think they're assembled in Ohio, as TTI closed Hoover's USA plant in North Canton not long after acquiring the company from Maytag. The only thing I know of in Glenwillow is TTI's headquarter compound facility for their floor care division; I don't think that facility houses any type of factory. But, I could be wrong.

The Techies World Tti bought oreck about a year ago and they have been using the Tennessee plant for some Royal,Hoover commercial and Oreck machines to put the USA stamp on them.

Reminds me of the Oreck. That is pretty retro in design. The fittings remind me of the attachments on my grandma's concept 1, at least the way you push the plastic thingy to release. Her's were white and I believe the wands were a brushed aluminum. They never got used due to the pan converter being an annoyance and the poor suction. Of course anything is easier than the Kirby method.

The design dates from the 70s when Hoover launched the Swingette. It's pretty basic as far as design goes, but it does the job. Lots more retro looking American vacs to come.

I've got a scrap uk Porta power in the shed... You could fit the motor and have a brand new Porta power that is 240v! Only joking, lovely machine! Those small tools look very like the Maytag Windtunnel ones, bar the rubber teeth
@ibaisaic7 жыл бұрын
I do have a brand new 240 volt Portapower too and plenty of used ones. I seem to have amassed quite a collection. Would love to own another Portapower Super with the wheels.

Those are very popular for home-cleaning services and maids where I am. I used to sell them and repair them. It was a top seller, but the quality is a little sketchy. Power switches and powercords go bad frequently. That being said, it looks like they have made improvements to their switches and cords. So they probably last longer now. Not a fan of Hoover products anymore because their quality has been decimated since selling out, but this product is pretty good!
@ibaisaic7 жыл бұрын
Made in USA Hoovers were certainly better, just like the made in Britain ones were. This isn't bad for an American assembled machine, but it doesn't feel as good quality as my North Canton manufactured Portapower.

It's a 900 watt vacuum and the way to work it out you do voltage times amps equals watt so 120x7.5=900
@briant53787 жыл бұрын
eren ucan Indeed, and since the maximum amperage we have ever been offered on vacuums is 12 amps, our vacs have a max wattage of 1440.

Love your videos matey keep up the good work. A quick question what would be the best wet and dry vacuum to buy preferably one that can also be easy to manoeuvre in a car
@vacuumtests92257 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the video. Very helpful. This was very interesting, because so far I have only imported my vacuums from the UK (same voltage here in the Finland). I am very tempted to import US vacuums and I have the same problem. Need of the step down transformer and expensive import charges. I might still do it.
@ibaisaic7 жыл бұрын
Once you have the transformer and purchased your first American vacuum, you will probably end up buying more. It gives you a lot more choice of different models, but it is very expensive with the extra shipping and import charges.
@vacuumtests92257 жыл бұрын
There is a lot of interesting vacuums in the US what we don´t get in the Finland or what UK doesn't have. After buying the step down transformer it's certain, that I will buy US only vacuums. Extra shipping and import charges are something what I just have to accept if I find a special vacuum cleaner.
