It is so complicated and bad that I almost want it. Because I am vacuum collector I would enjoy something very weird like this. Now biggest design fail in this is the water getting in to the filters. I just can't believe how someone could let vacuum like this get to the sale. Absolutely incredible in a bad way. Entertaining for sure.

I have one for 3 years and right on the first use the water passed to the engine so I thought I was doing something wrong. At the store they said that I could not put the water to maximum level. I did everything they recommended and it didn't work the only way to get to work with it is with the water at the minimum level and the engine power in the middle, but even so, at the end of cleaning the house, it ends up passing some water to the engine. This product is on sale in Portugal for 200 € and there are already several complaints like mine and they do not remove the product from the market and say that the problem is the user.

It is an interesting design and I think the concept is a good idea. However it does not suit a domestic or commercial environment, the only purpose would be in a certain industrial environment where fine dust extraction is needed.

Let me be the discordant voice on this long series of comments! I can only make an honest comparison with all previous vacuum cleaners I had (this is my second Hoover), as well as with the Rainbow from a familiar which I've tried out a few times. And although I'm not exactly a fan of the whole Rainbow concept (their devices are _massively_ overpriced beyond belief, and they don't last 20 years as sometimes is claimed...), I have to admit that the Rainbow beats this Hoover HydroPower easily - and that at just 800W. The HydroPower consumes only 700W, but it's clearly a few notches under the Rainbow - which also requires a lot of maintenance and cleaning and has almost as many parts as the HydroPower (and a new Rainbow costs about 10x as much...). That being said, this is not my first water filtration vacuum cleaner - I believe it's the third or fourth. That means that I'm used to the chore of cleaning up afterwards. That's common to all water filtration vacuums that _I_ worked with - it's possible there are many other models these days which work differently, but I haven't come across them, so I don't know how they work in practice. And on that subject, I can say that the Hoover HydroPower easily beats all of the others I previously had - and it consumes about half of what the others did. In _that_ regard, I can easily say that comparing to other water filtration vacuum cleaners I've used, and putting the Rainbow at the unchallenged leader at the top, the HydroPower comes in 2nd, at a fraction of the cost of the Rainbow, and around the same price range as the others I had before: that is, more than twice of a low-end, dustbag-based vacuum cleaner. I did _not_ see your video in full, so I might have missed the _cleaning_ phase! To do it properly, _all_ parts from the body _should_ be cleaned each time you vacuum your whole apartment (in our case, that means once a week). By 'cleaning' I don't mean simply shaking them off after emptying the water container down the drain. No, each and every part - filters as well! - should be thoroughly washed with a mild detergent, and then set to dry for 24 hours _under the sun_ (easy for me, living in a country with 300+ days/year of sunshine, but I wonder how people in other countries manage it). Why? Because, of course, sunlight has plenty of UV radiation which is excellent to kill microorganisms... thus, that means that after the long and complex task of cleaning everything, you _still_ can't use the HydroPower on the next day (even assuming that you had the stamina to do it!), because all parts must be absolutely dry and left on the sun to dry. Trust me, I _have_ experimented with using the vacuum with 'looks dry enough for me' parts. Let me just say that it is *not* a good idea... Thus, this vacuum is not something for daily usage. It's more suited for a weekly thorough cleaning - or, exceptionally, a special occasion when you get visitors. Personally, in a small apartment with two humans and two cats, I just sweep every day (mostly because of the cats) and use the HydroPower once a week. Visitors tend to praise how clean our home is, so I guess this is enough... Now, I'm not saying that this is a wonderful, fantastic vacuum cleaner that will bring down the reign of the Rainbow and other super-expensive vacuum cleaners of that class. Not in the least! I also think that there are lots of areas to improve the overall design - for instance, cutting the number of movable parts, and use perhaps at most two filters to clean. The other water filtration vacuum cleaners I owned certainly had far fewer parts to clean! (That's perhaps a reason why they didn't last as long and consumed a _lot_ of power). However, I learned (the hard way!) that the HydroPower is a _very_ fickle machine, and lots of the comments I've read (I didn't read everything) made me remember the first times I used it. For instance, the issue about the water level. For some insane reason, the two markings for min/max are not _quite_ level - they're at a slight angle - and that makes it even harder to put _exactly_ the amount of water in the bowl. And that amount is really crucial. As some have reported, if you go over the max, it's _inevitable_ that water will spill - and that, in the long run, will kill the motor. I thus wonder why exactly there is such a huge bowl if it will only get a tiny little bit of water; but there is certainly a lot of action going on: when the vacuum is turned on, that water will be shaken violently all around the bowl. One wonders if that's just for show or if there is a purpose in all that agitation. The unit should also have a built-in gyroscope... that's because if you bump the vacuum around, it is almost certain that it will turn upside down sooner or later - or at least sideways. This will almost immediately mean that some water will spill, and one of the filters (most frequently, those in front of the motor air admission entrance) will get wet (or even soaked in water). When that happens, the machine will _stop_ sucking, and, if you insist on continuing to clean, it will overheat and stop on its own. It really takes some practice (and constantly pay attention) to move around and avoid spilling a single drop. You _can_ do it - but its design is not at par with, say, the Rainbox, which will tolerate many bumps and is rather hard to throw over its side. The truth is that after a few hours of cleaning the home, the clear water will be a dark sludge, with large clumps of human hair and pet fur. This is, most definitely, _not_ what you wish to stay inside a closed vacuum machine in the cupboard... so cleaning it up is a must. Would I recommend this to a friend? Actually, no. Most people I know would not really bother with the high level of maintenance required by this vacuum cleaner. I'd say that the sucking/cleaning power is better than most similarly-priced vacuum cleaners (and a few notches below the Rainbow, as said) and not really 'average' but rather 'above average' - when doing everything properly - and not requiring eco-unfriendly dustbags is a plus, and so is the low power consumption; but, all in all, I can understand why Hoover gave up this product line: most people, these days, will simply have no patience or time to clean the HydroPower after usage _every time_ . That said, it's a reliable machine, which I use both for dusting, cleaning up sofas, couches and even bed covers, as well as extracting pet fur from carpets thanks to all the included tools and accessories...

I know. I had it too! (Unfortunately) because it was pretty expensive and it was a nightmare to clean it. But the worst part of this vacuum cleaner was that it threw water out of it and because of that, all the filters and my carpet got wet. I can not recommend this one! I think this vacuum cleaner was a failed experiment since it was designed.

Years ago (probably 10 years) I had a water filter vacuum I purchased from one of the auction channels that were prevalent in the UK at that time. It was a coveted item as a bit of a neat freak I was really pleased to get. BIG MISTAKE! The filtration was awful (I am sure the dust just bypassed the water due to the power of the suction). The clean up was a pain & if not done properly the smell on the next use was appalling. Compared to a normal vacuum it needed to be cleaned after every use & more time was spent cleaning the vacuum cleaner than cleaning the house. Never again :(

I mean if you're if you're still having a container that has dry dirt in it then what's the point of adding the water I mean make the water the receptacle for all the debris but again that's what happens when these Chinese companies start buying up all these tried-and-true companies that have been around for decades and manufactured top quality product. By the way, don’t get a Rainbow. I don’t believe in mixing dirt with stagnant water. It could lead to Legionnaires Disease. In the future should you find the need a Filter Queen is a safer choice. Still you have Henrys and if anything a Lux Intelligence with an ET1 powerhead would be a nice collector’s vacuum for you.

Where do you get that you mix it with stagnant water at ? The only way that the water goes stagnant is if you just leave it in there and never empty it. It's been proven that the rainbow filters better than the filter queen. Obviously you have never used a rainbow

That’s very presumptuous of you. I have indeed used Rainbow vacuums. I also have a degree in biology. Have you? It only takes two hours for infections to begin to fester so depending upon the size of the home you’re cleaning it’s possible for infections to begin spreading if the water isn’t changed multiple times during one session. I’d like to examine said tests comparing the sanitation between Rainbow and Filter Queen vacuum cleaners as if your allegations against Filter Queens are valid then every bagged vacuum is dangerous. Not so. It would seam to me that the only way to sanitize the inner workings of a water filtered vacuum would be to wash them in water temperatures beyond 160* Fahrenheit or more.

@@LlyleHunter have you ever smelled a bagged vacuum after you use it for a bit ? Notice a smell coming from it ? We keep a bag in it for a month or so at a time and all the stuff we pick up such as crumbs from cleaning our home rot and decay in that bag or filter. Ever picked up a fly ornspider with your vac ? I'm sure at some point you have even of you didn't know it. Same thing happens to that bug happens to an animal after someone has hit it it rots and stinks and decays. The. you turn your vac on and it spews all that stuff you have been storing inside it out. Also if the rainbow caused diseases it wouldn't be certified for use by the asthma and allergy foundation of america as an air purifier. Its stamped right to the side of the vac and also on paper. Drs reccomend the rainbow to allergy and asthma patients because it really does work. I've used rainbows and only rainbows my whole life and rarely and I do mean rarely get sick. I'd rather dump it back outside where it came from than store it in my home. And emptying a regular bagless vac, well we all know how that goes. Its wonderful you have a degree in biology. I'm a nurse but that has no relevance at all here. Take a bright light and hold it over the exhaust of the filter queen and watch what happens. It blows dust out. After having my rainbow for a long time its still clean on the inside. the water traps it all.

I’ve never kept a bag in my vacuum for an entire month. I have however seen many tests that have proven that sealed system bagged vacuums with HEPA filters can eliminate 100% of all particulates from the exhauste where Rainbow vacuums allow some to escape. I will attest to the quality of build and the repair records of Rainbow vacuums but they are not the best vacuums on the market for filtration. You can view tests with particle meters on Vaclab and on Performancereviews right here on KZbin.

I’m sorry that you suffer from respiratory problems Danny. You certainly have my empathy. I had one attack when I was young after an injection for allergies and it was a horrible feeling. My mother suffered from COPD. The best machines that I’ve found through my research were Miele canister vacuums and Electrolux bagged canister vacuums both when equipped with HEPA filters as well as the Aerus Guardain Platinum Canister which is equipped with two. SEBO canister vacuums are outfitted with hospital grade filters and are approved for asthma and allergy sufferers. They score as well as Rainbow machines do but not quite as well as the HEPA equipped Miele and Electrolux models. I’ve found that the best air purifiers are whole house system air purifiers.
