My mum had a Hover similar to this back in the early nineties and died in 2004 replaced with a Maytag Atlantis and still going strong. Greetings from Australia 🇦🇺

I’m really into washing machines as well so really like this. I’m blind so can’t see it but it sounds great. It sounds like my grandparents Old hoover washer. The only differences is the pump sound was a bit different and it did the loud click on both first and second Spins. it also had two tubes and a suds return feature. But the feature stopped working. In 2006 it started making a really loud grinding noise at the end of both spin cycles, and my grandparents replaced it with a Maytag washer. They now have an F and P wash smart Toploader. I wish that I could’ve been able to keep the old washer, but I was 12 at the time and didn’t have that kind of authority. And back then they were trying to stop me being obsessed with those kind of things. They said it wasn’t normal to be interested in washing machines.

I have subscribed to both you and Elliot‘s KZbin channels. It’s very good to see fellow washer enthusiasts. And I definitely love to meet you guys one day. I live in Australia, Sydney. I’m not sure what part of Australia you guys live in. But would love to meet you one-day.

I don’t think we have ever had Hoover washers here in the United States. Is this a common machine in your area?
@mattie173 жыл бұрын
You guys did have a range of Hoover top load machines at one stage I believe. Hoover was a big brand here and still is in the vacuum world, not so much in the laundry world anymore. For a while tho through the 70’s onwards, Hoover machines were some of the best around. This one is of 1991/1992 vintage :-)

On the last spin I see it does a final spray rinse. Does this remove most of your fabric softener?
@mattie173 жыл бұрын
It doesn’t seem to. I’ve been told only warm or hot water actually rinses out fabric softener. It’s a quirky feature but suppose they are trying to rinse as much as possible

@@mattie17 That makes sense. Do you know the spin speed on this machine?

@@Bunkysworkshop I don’t have an exact figure but think it’s about 600rpm

@@mattie17 That’s about right from what I see on the video. I was guessing about 500/600 rpm

Put some WD 40 and that should get rid of the squeaking

What’s causing the squeaking noises?
@mattie173 жыл бұрын
I think it is the pulley. I’ve replaced the belt and that didn’t help so will investigate further

CRIKEY! YUCK! What's the point of saving that dirty sudsy water in the first place?
@mattie17 Жыл бұрын
It was a thing in the good old days that housewives used to save the wash water for the next load to cut down on water costs. Not something I would ever do unless it was cleaner than that! Haha
