Fantastic machine, Aussie work horse, my grandmother had one lasted 21 years. I love the sound, could fall asleep to the sound.

Love this washer cycle with spray rinse and deep rinse nice feature, this washer reminds me of the GE filter flo agitation

I like the Aussie top loaders. Glad to see that top loaders were embraced like they were here in the U.S. Also like the simple swirl agitator. Not overly designed and just does the job well. Kind of looks like the Westinghouse ramp agitators we had in our machines back in the day.

Best of the Australian 80's (1985). Hoover was built to perform and outlast. That's why hoover is ahead of the rest 👍👍

My nanna had the exact same model. And I myself purchased a Speed Queen and the agitation action is almost identical to these old Hoover workhorses. The surge & turnover is the same. Does an amazing job.

The agitator is very similar to the ones used in the GE Filter-Flo washing machine from the 1960s.

@@offthegridwithbert924 Great! Are you making them at Australia?
@offthegridwithbert9243 жыл бұрын
@@JohnAK72 they were sold here, I am not sure if they were made in Australia under license or imported from USA.

@@offthegridwithbert924 Okay, sure I've seen some UK versions of GE FL here in KZbin. I'm pretty much confident they're made differently and "most likely" outside of the states because they had a narrow drum and a plastic tub. All of the US FL versions have an enamel tub. I'm not sure, but I think I've also seen some UK versions with an internal heater! You don't get a GE FL with an electric heating element in the US.

This is a terrific machine. I personally prefer more water so I would not have used the low water level, most likely the large.

my family used to have one of these but sold it to move house it was a wonderful washing machine which was replaced by a whirlpool front loader that died after 3 years.

My mum had an earlier Hoover 520, she purchased it new in the 1970's and it kept going until 1996 when the tub seal let go, the repair guy was to lazy to replace it so she ended up replacing it with the first generation of Fisher and Paykel smart drives, another good machine. These old Hoovers wash better than all this modern stuff, she's got an LG now and it's rubbish, never washes properly and there's always lint through the clothes, also the machine smells like mould always, I have a GE Filter Flow personally, another bloody great machine from the 80's!

Amazing wash agitation with incredible turn over. I always preferred a wash tub that wasn't indexing during the wash cycle. Sounds like it has an electric pump too. Can you film a small wash load? Thanks for posting. 💯🎉
@offthegridwithbert9243 жыл бұрын
The 920 I believe was late 80's, and the very last of the Blackstone transmission machines was the 950 from early 90's, after that Hoover went to the cheaper to manufacture and crappy in comparison "power pulse" in the 960, a well maintained Blackstone Hoover should last for decades, the transmission is bulletproof, however a leaking tub seal will quickly allow water ingress into the transmission causing it to fail, tub seals on these are an absolute breeze to replace, agitator out then 2 shaft securing bolts and out comes the inner tub, prise out the seal with a seal pick and in with a new one, they are available at any bearing seller, very easy and worth doing if the machine has been sitting unused for years, most rubber hoses are still available also.

My gran had one of these and I had the 820. Was awesome. I remember when we would wash a pair of shoes or other lite loads it used to make a spooky metallic wobbling sound every few seconds or so on the spin cycle. Does yours dobthe same?

Just a tip: these later Hoovers didn’t have the recirculation pump, so adding the detergent before adding the clothes may have the detergent fall in to the sump and not be properly recirculated. That said, hot water is a good choice! How hot is it please?
@offthegridwithbert9243 жыл бұрын
I always add on top of the clothes once the machine starts filling, but yes the detergent going in first could get stuck between the inner and outer tub.
