I was listening to Xmas music with my 5 yo and 12 days of Xmas starting playing. When I realized my true love will never be here for another Christmas, I had to run and hide from my babygirl so I could shed some tears. Thank you for this channel. I don't feel so alone. Thanks for sharing your experiences and being brutally honest about it. I know it takes a lot for a person to put themselves out there to be criticised and critiqued, I appreciate you so much 💕 I was widowed at 33 and it is sooo awkward being a young widow 😐 there's no one that can relate at my age. This channel has been a light on a hill ❤

I'm coming up on my second Christmas without my soul mate. The only thing I actually remember about last year was that horrendous sickening that took over from the inside of me to the out. It was like negative anticipation, that's the only way I can describe it. I'm trying so hard not to allow myself to be completely consumed by that like last year. Sending love and strength to anyone going through this first or second or however many Christmases without your loved one. The financial strain affects how I celebrate for sure. To honor my husband I hang a personalized Xmas ornament on the tree in the mausoleum. New Years Eve is hardest. I go to bed early and deal with the calendar the next morning cause that’s when it hits me that I survived another year w/o him. Happy Holidays to you and your family Leo. Stay safe and be well.

My first Thanksgiving without my husband. He passed in January 2023. I will be with family who will be bringing food to my house. I am already crying realizing he won’t be here. I believe he is in heaven and no longer in pain which I am grateful for. You are right about the social isolation. No longer being a couple has changed my life. I said to myself today ‘it’s a bad dream and he’ll be walking through the door.’ Unless you have experienced the loss of a spouse, you don’t know how it feels! I did decorate the house in a fall theme. I needed it to try and feel better. We’ll see how I am tomorrow when my family arrives. You hit a lot of key points. Wishing you and your family a happy and peaceful Thanksgiving.

I'm so sorry for you and your family. I understand exactly that social isolation. Everyone initially, gathers an tells you they are there for you. But the reality is, people go on and live their own lives, even family. I do hope this channel helps you feel less alone, it does for me. Sending love and strength x

Leo bingo!!! Turning the page and leaving him in the past was the same for me. He passed in April 30, 2021. When 2022 Jan 1st came, I cried all day because of that reason. He isn't here in 22 and I could say he was here in that year. That KILLED me too!

Thank you very much . My husband died June 19 th , 2018 . all you share is true. I’ll never forget my first thanksgiving. Five months after my husband died my huge family gathered as they always do , my cousins wife yelled at me for being in the kitchen , three family members mentioned my husband out of twenty five . I was never more traumatized. I haven’t been to a thanksgiving since , self preservation and boundaries. Every year we did Christmas for his family, on my first Christmas Eve I sat alone with our daughter , again traumatized. I will never be the same. The trauma and depletion of grief on top of family members behaviour. I’m deeply sorry for you and your family childrens loss. How old were they when their daddy died? ♥️ sending a hug and many thanks…

Sounds like you have ptsd from that first Christmas in your grief- how selfish of your family! My children were: 19, 15, 12, and 7 when he died.
