The spell corporis impetu means body attack. She'd immobilizing him by holding him down instead of freezing him in place. Its all about intention with spells, like how incendia can be used in different ways such as a fire ball or a beam of fire or setting something on fire

Because they had no interest in having her turn yet, Hope wanted to delay her becoming a vampire for as long as possible. Also, strength doesn't equal skill. You can be super strong but if you're not skilled in fighting, someone with enough skill might still beat you.
