Hi as a member of the team that built and operates Hope - under - Dinmore thanks for all the kind comments. The video was posted by BRM magazine and 'we' have only just been made aware of it. The layout was built by members of the South Hants Model Railway Club. The club owns the layout infrastructure, but the stock is all owned by the members of the operating team. Some of the GWR stock is also used on Richard Butlers Westcliffe layout.

That is SUCH a beautiful model railway you can't leave the backdrop plain blue?! - pls ask someone in the club to create a realistic backdrop with great perspective (so many great sites get that last touch wrong) - then your incredibly realistic and wonderful layout would look indistinguishable from reality! With today's printers and tech it's like leaving the score our of a great film! In any case I enjoyed watching that and it makes me want to build a layout! Thanks for posting.

A new back scene is already in the making, but COVID had stopped all work on the layout until this week. It is not a simple matter of getting one printed, that is the easy bit. Generating the correct backdrop to match a 25 ft curved scenic section takes a lot of work and quite a few iterations to get it right.

An excellent model of a lovely part of the country. Always good to see LNWR/GWR joint running. Did they actually have sailing barges on the River Lugg though?

Hello. Buenas tardes. Excellent rail laying in scale. I am writing to you from Buenos Aires Argentina. I here also have a modular layout that led to the few exhibitions that exist in Buenos Aires, consequences of our economy. I wanted to ask you two questions: 1) How tall are the top of the model (video 0:36) the black part. 2) Are arm signals commercial? Use Google Translate to send you this message. Thankful in advance.

Mario. The track height is 1170 mm above the floor. The top of the lighting units (the black bits) a roughly 1800 mm above floor level. Normally we try to aim at 1100 - 1200 to track level then around 380 mm between the track base and the bottom of the lighting units.

@@DavidSmith-ts9hp Hi David. Good morning. Thank you very much for the information you shared with me. I have used the "Google Translate" to read your answer. Now a new question arises: How do the modules move? Do they disarm? Thankful from now on. A hug from cold Buenos Aires.

@@marioroberto1969 Mario I hope this translates OK! The modules are aligned to each other using two pins at each joint. One board has a male pin, the other board a female socket. The holes for the sockets and pins are drilled using a jig. The boards are held together using a latch each side of the board.

@@DavidSmith-ts9hp Good morning David. It was translated excellent. Thanks for the information. If at some point, you can share a photo of the elements you used to keep the model aligned, it would be great, as for me to look, here in Buenos Aires, similar elements for my modules. From cool Buenos Aires (12 degrees) I send you a big hug.
