I am amazed at the way Eldad is able to size up the situation and can usually predict, from the dog’s behavior, what HE needs to do to help facilitate the rescue. That is a skill acquired by experience, I know - but I also believe it’s a gift Eldad possesses because he is so committed to this labor of love.

What a fantastic job you do. I'm from England and I haven't seen a stray dog since the 1970s. Well, I say that, but I did have a little JR cross pup on my doorstep when I got home from work on a very cold November night in the 80s. I took him in for the night...a very long night...it lasted 10 years! Best dog I ever had. Love what you do.

Names can be very powerful. I remember reading a supposedly true story about an animal shelter which was having a lot of trouble with a Doberman that had been left on their hands. The previous owner had named the dog "Killer" and treated it badly with the result that Killer had a very aggressive temperament. Dobermans already have a reputation for being an intimidating breed, with the result that people are less likely to adopt one which ends up in a shelter -- and Killer's temperament made it even less likely that anyone would want him, raising the odds that he might eventually need to be put to sleep. Out of desperation, one of the people on staff at the shelter suggested giving him a new name -- they decided to call him Baby. Within a few weeks, Killer began living up to his new name by quieting down significantly...and it was not that long before someone adopted him.
