@@HopwoodXIV that's why I said to you before ( when you got the panels back ) its Important that this doesnt become like a Disneyland project and I think I insulted you about your loyalty to the project !!! SOMETIIMES IM JUST AN ASS !!! But boy you've got the absolute chance of a lifetime do you know how many would trade places ?? Your right about the local history it's amazing eh ?? Believe it or not there unfortunately has been a lot of losses of building due to unscrupulous developers but yours survived even though the schoolchildren passed daily I'm surprised they didnt raze it too the ground with fire . Ok Last thing 1 of the pupils from that school (I think) has a brilliant channel on youtube its MARTIN ZERO He's passionate about local history in that area and would be worth checking out I would suppose your waiting on Grants local or lottery ( you need university degree just to fill out grant request forms ) and that's why the slow progress , I suppose your protecting the family fortune in trusts and off shore , it's always a hassle looking after the family millions !!! But hey when your finished you'll have space for the Ferrari collection I normally sign off nice to see ya ....... wouldnt wanna be you but oh how inappropriate that sounds here if you ever need a day off I.......

Fascinating, as always! My family's ancestral home in Galesburg, Michigan wasn't big enough to have its own chapel.... However, the Congregational Church in town was built of bricks from the brickworks on the family property, so there's still a connection. But I don't know whether family pews were a "thing" by 1861 when the present church building was constructed.... Anyway. Keep the videos coming! And by the way, the "downward dog" is done by forming an upside down V with feet and hands on the floor, and the, um, sitting place straight up in the air. :) No, I can't do it either.

In the 1960s, the DeLaSalle Christian Brothers used the Hopwood estate as a Catholic teaching training school....DeLaSalle Brothers are a Roman Catholic order of Brothers (no priests are allowed in the order). They are a worldwide order of 3000 Brothers with close to a million students in their LaSallian schools - from preschool to universities)

Back in the Day. People of financial means or those with titles would build Chapels as part of doing good works to make it easier to get into Heaven and to spend fewer years in Purgatory. Also they were the first buildings in the area and there were no other churches.

Mr. Depree, I've just this week learned about your story and your amazing family home. This story is like a fantasy. I enjoy your light hearted approach to these videos. However, the one about the vandals destroying items in the 14th and 16th century parts/panels/doors just makes me angry. The last several years I've been studying furniture from the Jacobean period c.1600, and I'm already quite passionate about historic architectural preservation. I've worked in the architectural industry for almost 30 years and studied antiques as my brother is an Antiques Roadshow appraiser, and I used to buy for his store. My family is also supposed to have an ancestral home in Scotland but we have not been able to find it. We have traced the family back to an 11th century knight. But the bulk of our information starts in the 14th century through the 18th century when our family fled Scotland for religious reasons - I don't know what those reasons were. I'm just yammering on here. I wanted to tell you that I love your story. I wish so much that I could help with your efforts. I wish you good luck and great success. And I look forward to your future videos and hopefully one day seeing your finished product. BTW - are you all cataloging and labeling samples of all of the wall papers that you are removing? My 120 year old home had 14 layers of wall paper just in the dining room.
