You are learning a lot with this run. Going forward it looks like all bases must be built from a core of solid blocks, then you can pretty up the outside with whatever neat design you have in mind. So long as the core remains solid blocks the cops penetrative spit wont be an issue. Now you know the door condition is key to keep the zombies focused on your path so keeping it in good condition will be more of a focus. This is great stuff. Until you figured out the door thing I was set to declare poi horde bases a bad idea because of stupid strange pathing bugs that cant be stopped.

I dont know if anyones mentioned it but, the "armour" that was placed around the outside was at the perfect height for zombies to "think" they can run along it which probably encouraged them to dig through the wall potentially... Also from observing the steel doors are damaged dont know if the zombies see the holes in them as potential hazards aswell (oops it was the doors haha!)

That has to be one of my favorite episodes! Every once in a while, Tem has something happen drastically, yet he turns it into solid gold footage! However when he realized when he was out of materials and started freaking out a bit, that alongside the little screen snips leading to the horde..... Hands down some of the best story telling from a creator I have seen. I am literally debating on buying a projector and dedicating a room setup like a theater, just so I can watch these Videos! Love the Editing! Cheers GNS!

One of your best series! The little quick snippets of the on foot horde night was chef's kiss moments. I love knuckles with Vol. book that eliminates the buzz affect for a clear screen. Max knuckle points and all volumes and that melee weapon is so much fun. I'm also a big fan of the Robotic Turrets as helpers during horde nights and very congested POIs. Drum mag mod and other mods on Robotic Turret and load with ammo, place it down for extra fire power assistance. KEY POINT LEARNED = make sure Steel Doors are max or close to close max health always to make sure their pathing is straight to your melee fighting position along the thin steel cables. You could also put Dew Collectors where the Farm was and move Farm Plots just little away from base since you really only need Corn and Potatoes for the good Stews and harvest once in awhile. Keep up the amazing work!

Love the change of fighting style this far into the series IMO, the quick flash-forward is a much better storytelling & foreshadowing technique than than the slo-mo replay. I wonder if the zombies not pathing on damaged doors started when you could hit zombies through doors. I dont remember this last alpha. Also an idea to make the zombies stop going through the wall, maybe the steps and alleys to the fighting position arent connected to the base. just leave a block gap from floor to roof right next to the step on either side.

You had all those polymers from the wrenching run a few days ago. Wrenching cars with skill points is a very good source of polymers. I think the zombies were trying to build a staircase within the wall to avoid as much steel as possible when they tried to dig through the corner. So it might be a good idea to upgrade some other blocks above that corner to steel. Since you figured out the problem was door repair, it's not urgent, but no reason to give them an easy path to you, and you're cooking a lot of steel.
@kyllbs17 ай бұрын
First, that foreshadowing was killer. Great work. Second, it really sucks that Fighting space has to become a cube. It looked so nice with the angles. If this base ever gets built again moving the forges off that wall would probably fix the issue.

I LOVED the editing on this one, bro! The flashes of you getting mauled every time you said something hopeful about the future really made me wonder if this was the last episode! Also, you CAN'T beat yourself up about the door thing cause I have sat and tried and tried to figure out why they kept going over there too and it never even occurred to me either that the condition of the doors would matter that much. I figured, like you did, that it HAD to be the catwalks causing it. Keep up the great work and stop brow-beating yourself about things that there's no way you could have known without being told it or experiencing it first hand!

Commenting for your stats: yes! The fact that you have now realized that mobs can “see” through all blocks except pure cube shapes is a problem. Minecraft solved it (kinda) by adding a property to every block that determines its transparency. It’s not perfect, and has potential to easily cause massive lag (just by adding memory footprint and computational complexity to each voxel), but it is worth investigating.

16:26 to 17:10 looks like a game trailer. Open it with a close-up of a guy staring at a picture of his wife or his child or the last pint of Häagen-Dazs on earth. In the background the radio is reporting on the zombie apocalypse. Follow that with a montage of weapons being loaded and strapped on and and a cold voice saying "not on my watch" Then edit in 14:38 to 14:47 then the 16 to 17.

Firstly this maybe an upgrade for your fighting positions; replace the lower block with the Arrow Slot block, you can still shoot the crawlers, but they shouldn’t crawl through, and Secondly build a second wall, two blocks off from the base on the sides which you are going to use the blade traps on, so you can set twice the number of blade traps to cut down the Zombies.

If the zombies won't follow your pathing, there's something in it they think is more work than the alternative. Difficult to troubleshoot in the middle of a horde, but how often do you see people just say 'zombie pathing is weird!' and give up. It had to be something that has changed, the way they were going was now more work than before, as steel, so it had to be the intended path, and the only changes there were the state of the damage, and the improved fighting position, which wasn't more work to get through.
@stevedixon9217 ай бұрын
Knocking off the last catwalk block might help as it would put an empty block on the path 9as it was it make a connecting corner). Removing it entirely is the safer option.

Your lack of resources is the result of not having enough time between hordes to gather said resources. “Blood Moon Hordes every night” is the resource-drain. I’d rather have at least 3-4 days between hordes to allow at least a couple of days breathing room. Don’t get me wrong, this play-through is exciting and tense, but having a bit more breathing room between hordes would be a bit more fun for me, personally. I like seeing you run through POI’s and looting new weapon/armour upgrades more than fighting hordes. Also, seeing that the damaged vault doors were the zombie pathing problem makes sense now that you can “shoot/hit through the hole in the door when damaged” in this version of the game when they are vertical as a proper door, so no wonder that the zombies see the damaged door as an obstacle when laid horizontal.

Haven't yet finished the episode but if you haven't done it, I would just concede and put those plate 2 filler blocks back to stop them from carving the walls, because I don't think they'll stop as long as they're full cubes or any block they think they can walk on. If anything, put two full cubes on either side of them; yeah it's ugly but at this point in the series if you don't end up dying this episode's second night or beyond function over form is basically required!

It has been so fun to watch you struggle with the base not working well and being low on resources to figuring out your problem and solving it. That's so awesome. Wrt the base design id personally like it if the garage area was as tall as the rest of the base with those glass domes on each side. Maybe you could figure out a way to fly the gyro into the level above the garage. One other thing I wanted to tell you was that I feel bad about all the loot bags you lose our on after every horde because they disappear so fast. You're putting in the work you should get the bags. So id be totally fine if you installed a mod to change the timer on the bags. Can't wait to see the blade traps installed again. Putting them in the path where the zombies run was genius. Ohh! One last thing. I think that zombies havent been able to path over broken doors since TFP made them permable so we can finally shoot through then when theyre damaged
