First time on the channel. Great video! Just bought this here in the states on a limited in-store retail release before they ship online Dec.6. I absolutely love the d-pad on this model! Till now, I’ve had to mod my joy cons to mimic a d-pad. I play handheld using the d-pad about 80% of the time, and this is the PERFECT size (Split Pad Pro was TOO big and clunky)! The OLED Switch looks quite slick with these as well, seamless! Nice job, Hori! 👍👍

Welcome to the channel! 🙌🏻 thanks for being here it’s much appreciated 😊 , yes this is the perfect controller if you are using a d-pad. I love how it’s bigger than the joy cons but not too large like the Pad Pro so that it’s uncomfortable or a pain taking it anywhere. Really happy with this & I’m sure it will be a great hit with a lot of users! 🔥

Looks quite better than the original, I own the original but never liked the fact that the screen is not flush with the controllers, this looks much better.
@TechJayUK2 жыл бұрын
Definitely better than the original, like you say they fit on flush with the screen so it looks and feels better that way 🎮

YES I love how the size is between the Split Pad Pro and the JoyCon. It’s really a step up for Hori in my opinion. I can’t wait to get my hands on those Pokémon Gengar ones MY GOD

Hori have got it just right with the sizing!! Oh yes the Gengar ones look insane i would love to get my hands on it, thanks for the comment man , great channel you have btw :D

@@TechJayUK Thanks you too! Yeah I’m not even too into Pokémon but those colorsss

Thanks for the great video! I have the Hori Split Pad Pro, but I'm considering buying these. Just annoyed at the available color choices. I wish there was a darker color option without pokémon stuff (so the Gengar one doesn't count). Would love purple, dark blue, black or something similar...

Hey, currently using the original joy con & I'm confused between the pro & compact controller.
@TechJayUK2 жыл бұрын
I think the Compact is better in terms of it being a bit more portable than the Pro and doesn’t make the switch massive to hold, maybe comfort wise the Pro would be better as it’s even more a normal controller style 👍🏻
@JakDaxter30722 жыл бұрын
@@TechJayUK my reason for upgrading is the uncomfortable grip while playing for long duration. Have you played in long durations using the Compact controller? Does it resolve that?
@TechJayUK2 жыл бұрын
I’ve played for 3 hours plus at times and I don’t find it uncomfortable at all 👍🏻👍🏻🎮

Just preordered the Gengar edition today, they come out on the 28th of October in Australia. Can't wait, the joy cons give me numb hands after an hour, way too flat and small.

does the back stand knobs scratch the switch ?

Should I buy these if I already have the Pro? They cost the same as Splatoon 3, and I'm really struggling to decide.
@rodddossantos14372 жыл бұрын
I bought (and shortly after returned) the Split Pad Pro, just to be sure because I had never held the Pro model either. Everything from the way the Compact sits so comfortably in my hands to how responsive and natural the inputs feel make for a much more pleasant and NOT clunky experience when compared to the Pro. With that said, I understand Splatoon 3 makes use of the motion sensor tech in the joy cons that neither of these have. Doesn’t seem like a necessity, and I never use those features, but something to keep in mind I guess.
@Night_Rider832 жыл бұрын
@@rodddossantos1437 to be perfectly honest I hated motion controls in the Splatoon 3 demo. I guess I'll be picking up the Compact, as my joy cons are getting old and I want something that's comfortable like the Pro but with the form factor of the Joy Cons and the Compact is exactly that.
@rodddossantos14372 жыл бұрын
@@Night_Rider83 They’re so great. Plus the sticks are silky smooth for those 3D games too. You won’t regret the purchase. Cheers.
@TechJayUK2 жыл бұрын
I've not tried the Pro so can't compare the two very well however the Compact really does sit so well and fit so comfortably and would imagine after long use the Compact would be better than the Pro in that aspect. Maybe if you use your Switch in different locations then this is a lot more of a practicle controller to solely use too! Hope i've some what helped :)

What is the texturized back of the controller like? Is it a bumpy rubberized feel, or rough plastic like the split pad pro?
@TechJayUK2 жыл бұрын
It’s like a rough plastic like the split pad pro
@WheeledHamster2 жыл бұрын
So you cannot map crouch and jump to the back at the same time, that's basically the reason for back buttons, some designer at Hori must be smoking some fine shit when he came up with this.
@TechJayUK2 жыл бұрын
That is kinda annoying , would love to be able to map 2 buttons from the same controller to both back buttons, maybe on a new version we could see this 🤞🏻

Do those controls work on a normal Nintendo Switch? Or does it only work on the Nintendo Switch oled?
