We actually do know where the Bristlebacks came from. The rebels had them held up in a pen and the mining unearthed a sinkhole underneath the pen. The Bristlebacks fell in and followed the tunnel into the Daunt. That's the rebel camp next to the first rebel base you clear once making it into the forbidden west.

I'm upset this isn't coming to ps4 since I play on ps4 pro. I bought the game knowing a DLC would be announced later, so it feels like a slap in the face from Sony. I was super excited about this DLC, and now I'm incredibly disappointed that I won't be able to continue Aloy's story or experience this content when it's released. They better put in the effort to make this DLC more spectacular than the base game now that the hardware is no longer holding them back. Unfortunately, I won't be buying a ps5, so I'll have to experience this content through no commentary playthroughs.

I'm in the same boat. At my age and point in life, I only get a couple hours a week to play - if that. So, it doesn't make much since for me to invest $600 on a new system that I might get 150 hours/year play out of. I bet my PS4 Pro only has about 500 hours on it right now.

I know ps5 has other cool stuff out/coming soon, but those games are also $70 and my ps4 pro still runs most games well enough for cheaper. Heck, I still haven't gotten to playing most of the Sony Exclusives like Spider-man and GOW, both of which go on sale for way less money than new releases. I hope we ps4 players get some kind of update when Burning shore releases to compensate. Like a new side quest and a small explorable area.

My theory as to why The Horus Titan is functional is that Hephaestus repaired it. In Forbidden West we could see Hephaestus was producing many weapons and components inside the Cauldrons. While some of it was obviously for the Apex Machines the rest could have been made because it was secretly trying to bring the Titan back online. I also believe that Hephaestus could be controlling the Horus Titan directly, using it as a new body of sorts. Fitting since a Titan is basically a walking Cauldron that can produce new machines on the fly, and Hephaestus is literally the Greek God of the forge.

I want to see what machines HEPHAESTUS is now able to make since it spent a little bit using Far Zenith tech in the finale of Forbidden West. No doubt HEPH took what it could get before being forced out of their systems.

To me involvement of Hephaestus seems likely considering he and Hades are the two sub functions we are missing to restore Gaia. And since there are no more big threats at the end of FW its likely Aloy would dedicate time and resources to hunt down Hephaestus because he is the primary asset required to repair the biosphere and to potentially face Nemesis.

@@CrestOfArtorias For sure. Aloy will attempt to find a way to capture and reintegrate Hephaestus into GAIA. However in the meantime, Beta, Sylens and Gaia are working on a replacement. In case capturing hephaestus again proves impossible. Which is most likely going to happen as Hephaestus will not fall for the same trick twice. He most likely has also purged Teds omega overrides from his code. Just as he did with Elisabets Alpha Prime override once Aloy used it on Hades to destroy the wayward subfunction for good. As for a replacement for Hades, Gaia doesn't really need one. Hades was intended to be a failsafe. In case Gaia's attempts to recreate the biosphere failed. Which it did 5 times until she got it right. After that Hades was no longer needed. I'm just saying that I doubt Hepthaestus will be a major threat in the Burning Shores since he was the main antagonist of Frozen Wilds & one of the two secondary antagonists in Forbidden West.

​@@jordanread5829 Oh I agree but I still think we are likely going to steal some sort of component from Hephaestus. Sort of like stealing the divine hammer from the divine blacksmith sort of deal in order to create our own version of "Hephaestus" as technically, we dont need it per se, we need the ability to command the cauldrons. So sort of like grabbing Omega Clearance from Faro. Doing so of course would diminish Hephaestus greatly and potentially wrestling control of the cauldron network from it, potentially forcing it into one shell, which likely would be the most powerful one it would have access to... a Horus Titan likely being THE best option it would have left. But its speculation, I can see that repeating it as the primary antagonist might feel a bit trite. Still I think one could write a compelling narrative around stealing Hephaestus' ability to control the network thus creating an actual boss fight between it and Aloy.

My wife got me a H:FW PS5 as it was the only one available. I was like no biggie, I can delete it to get more room. Tried it out and, yeah, no chance of deleting it. That BS again. 🤦‍♂ HZD sold over 20 million copies, BoTW about 27 millions. Elder Ring has sold around 18 million copies, HFW well over 10 million, and there will be a few million more when it comes to PC. All of these games were stunning successes, but non was overshadowed by the others.

It seems to be a pretty common belief that the closeness in release of HZD to BoTW and HFW to ER had *some* kind of impact on the games, wouldn't you agree?

@@AndyBatesDesign No, I don't. BoTW and HZD were not even in direct competition because of the different systems they are on. I personally did not watched any BoTW stuff at all. I don't own Wii U or Switch so it was simply not of interest for me. I however watched and read plenty of stuff about HZD that was as easy to find. Same with HFW, that was in my focus because I really like HZD, and Elden Ring came much later for me. This is anecdotal, of course, but so is the observation that any of the Horizon titles received less coverage or were "overshadowed" by BoTW and ER. It is nothing but subjective, a internet meme without any meaning because there is no factual data to back it up.

A lot of ppl think the entrance to the dlc would be through hoover dam but one thing many ppl arent bringing up is that on the bottom left corner of the map near the robotic monkey region, you can find a ruin of an aquaduct on a mountain and next to it is a freeway ruin, that freeway is real and its the 5 interstate which if u follow it all the way down south in reality will bring you to LA so honestly i feel like that would probably the entrance area to the dlc

I just have to say that I'm in agreement with so many others commenting here. Your content is at the very top of Horizon series content creators. I have yet to watch one of your videos and not enjoy it, learn something new and agree with your thoughts and opinions on the game. I don't have a PS5 yet, although I have to admit this DLC is more incentive for me to go get one. I've finished both games, got the platinum trophy for both, finished the first one on ultra hard and I'm going through HFW on ultra hard now and looking for a handful of remaining datapoints. Your videos helped me quite a bit along the way after starting HFW, especially mastering different weapons. The Horizon series is my all time favorite game series and between both games I already have somewhere in the neighborhood of 700 - 800 hours of gameplay and more than a thousand photos that I should probably post somewhere. Not sure why I'm writing all of this except to say that you have a kindred spirit in your love of this game, and clearly not just me. So many of us greatly appreciate your research and take on this beloved story. Keep up the awesome work! Hats off to you! - another loyal subscriber.

An early version of the game which was viewed by the ratings board in the UK mentioned a 'DLC store', so I'm hoping we'll actually see multiple DLC packages. So it'd be great if the area in the north is actually for a completely separate DLC. I guess we'll see :)

Edit: for the north location expansion (the old fort) did you ever notice how the rebel camp south of it (the one connected to the bristlebacks quest in chainscrape) has a different map icon than any other camp? Could be hinting at something cuz surely gg wouldn't keep such a noticeable and simple to correct bug in the live version.

Good video, I'm not sure that old fort north east of Plainsong is anything more than some content that was cut late, as it seems very isolated and to small to be anything else. There is a signal lense up there so maybe the signal lense quest was bigger or like you said maybe there was more of a Regalla element originally and things were just cut late on.

Central California is basically waiting to become a huge sinkhole now. The fresh water tables?, sorry, not sure of the term, were drained so they replaced the fresh water with salt water to hold off sinkholes forming. Basically, part of the mojave desert is just north of LA leading into Central CA. People keep forgetting about the la Brea tarpits. The La Brea tarpits being lit on fire could be a very simple explanation for LA being on fire. There is oil drilling, or used to be, in the LA area. There was this big old filthy oil refinery that you could see driving from the Antelope Valley to LA. It is northwest to get from Vegas to LA. I can completely see getting from San Fran to LA by a boat or flying only.

@ArktixOfficial That isn‘t Talanah riding the Sunwing with Aloy, it’s a new unknown Quen character that will probably be introduced to us during the expansion. I wish it was Talanah though, she should have been a companion from the start 😢. I mean, she was even featured on official artwork for the game from the reveal when it was first announced and yet she got relegated to a side quest role, while Varl and Erend got to be central characters. I also hope that they add in the old armour from Zero Dawn during the DLC such as the Banuk Ice Hunter and Sun Blazon Master, those were my favourites.

ok, my thoughts on the DLC. During the final fight we released the Hephaestus to fight against the Zenit and it was seid that we will need to recapture him again. Becouse he was cut off from the crucible network, he escaped to the only other aveiable location, a still activ Horus quantum core. The first half of the DLC is following his signal. After the halfway point the horus reawakened, but is severely damaged/non operational so we must spend some time preventing Hephaestus from gathering materials required for repairs. The final battle will start on top of a Sunwing maneuvering around the tentacles and some sort of point defence turrets and after that a twist on a crucible conquest

The La Brea Tar Pits aren't exactly a volcano, but they are volcano-adjacent, and LA is filled with faults of its own. They'll probably just call it the San Andreas Fault anyway, since that's the one that people who aren't locals know, but it's perfectly reasonable to video-game-story LA into having an active volcano after a bunch of earthquakes and the ocean rises dozens of feet and sinks it.

Who will be the villain in the dlc? Frozen Wilds Villain was Hephaestus. Could Hephaestus reappear and might be the one that is controlling the Horus? Also, Frozen Wilds introduced Aloy to an AI named Cyan. There was lore about the Vast Silver AI again in Forbidden West. Maybe they will appear to Aloy in the dlc.

Oh yeah I’m definitely thinking Hephaestus is the main antagonist and is controlling the Horus. We know it escaped back into the cauldron network and now it has learned more from being in the Zenith’s network.

Yeah Vast appearing in the last data log for base FW is important. Since Zero Dawns final 5 world datapoints foreshadowed Far Zenith and the Odyssey project. Although I subscribe to a theory that Vast is now Nemesis. After their failed attempt to steal GAIA thanks to Travis Tate, Far Zenith used their connections to get their hands on Vast Silver. Who wasn't actually destroyed. I would say an AI made to fix the climate crisis is the next best thing to a terraforming AI. After Vast's usefulness was expended, certain members of Far Zenith used it as a base for their 'virtual immortality' project (aka Nemesis). Data points in Frozen Wilds implies that CYAN's main programmer, Anita Sandoval was involved in the Vast Silver project. Using her experience on that project as justification for CYAN to have a strong emotional intelligence. I wonder if that will play a big role in whatever plot point VS is involved in. Also, while I would like to see more HEPHAESTUS, I don't think he would be the main antagonist of Burning Shores. He was already the main antagonist of one installment and a secondary antagonist in two (playing a more offscreen role in Zero Dawn compared to Forbidden West).

obviously I'm biased because I have a PS5. I certainly think its weird to have a game that works on both PS4 and PS5, but the DLC is PS5 only. But on the other hand, at some point, old consoles shouldn't be used anymore, that's normal. Devs don't code for PS2 or PS3 anymore. This is life. It shouldn't be THAT difficult to get a PS5 anymore. even over a year ago when I got mine, when I was notified it was in stock at Best Buy, I was at work and I still had to handle some work stuff before I was free enough to make the purchase, so it was in stock for a good 15-20 minutes before I finally got my order in. So no, it wasn't out of stock in seconds. I do acknowledge that a DLC is a certainly strange spot to make the cutoff though

I certainly expected it to happen at some point and had made my peace with that, but I wasn't expecting it to happen on the DLC of a game that is already supported on both. As for difficulty getting one, availability is only half of the equation. The other half is financial. I don't have enough disposable income to drop that much on a PS5 without saving for months specifically to get one.

Yeah they aren’t too hard to get anymore, at least in the U.S. It’s harder in other regions unfortunately. I think the biggest thing though is the cost. $400/$500 (or more for a bundle) is a lot for some people at this point in their lives and they can’t justify that just to play one DLC for one game. Of course, you’ll be able to play all future games on it, so if you’re a gamer I suppose you’ll eventually find a way to pay for the upgrade. Just sucks for those who can’t make it happen between now and April. I agree with your logic, but I feel for those people too.

Like a real treasure hunt without the same level of hand-holding that the story missions provide. THAT would appeal to those who wish they stuck with the exploration they had with Zero Dawn. I have 100%-ed the game 3x over actually, plus a few more non-100% playthroughs lol. I do realize they say the pit in the Deadfalls Outpost is where the Bristlebacks came from, but it just never really made sense to me since that pit and the caves are really far apart from each other. If they're connected by a tunnel, it almost certainly goes under the fortress. I guess I should have explained that a bit more in the video. But you're correct that it could certainly be cut content, too.

Yes I suppose that’s true. Just seemed strange to me with the positioning of things. That sinkhole isn’t physically over the tunnel at all, but maybe that’s how it’s intended to be. Maybe the tunnel curves around and connects to the fortress though!
