I have a Gen 1 ps4 and it runs absolutely fine. I've experienced some pop-in here and there which is slightly immersion breaking, but it still runs great. I've had no issues with this game about 4 hours in.

Am on first gen PS4 - pop in is constant and I fell into space a few times after speaking from the base to Gaia and going back through the doors it happened multiple times. But apart from that runs perfectly

I’m on a PS4 slim and I’m having some problems I can’t enter any arena challenges and whenever I try to do it the game switches to a black screen with some background noises is anyone sleeping having this problem or is something wrong with my ps4 This is really bothering me and preventing me from getting the best gear in the game so if anyone can point me in the right direction here and help me out in some way I would be very greatful

wow. its just amazing to see how truly capable the ps4 is. its all about optimization and developers commitment. im not a huge fan of horizon to be honest but i looked forward for a video like this to actually give me an idea how upcoming games like god of war ragnarok will run and i will be happy to play it on my ps4 slim. hopefully you will do the same performance review for ragnarok. cheers, mate.

Yeah, that sucked, but by the time they perfect that game, they are going to have an engine that is truly next gen. It is so bleeding edge, bleeding edge hardware doesn't even run it well. Talk about a future proof game. They never should've marketed it for old consoles as it was fully being crafted to utilize Nvidia tech (raytracing, which, some ps5 exec said recently) is the future.

@@GrowingSmithsuPiNhEYAH Exactly, even years ago when I saw it I was a bit sceptical considering the level of detail they were going for and the amount of sand box content they were planning to have, while I was cool with the idea of it being on last gen, I always felt that it would have sold better if they would have just waited. What's even worse is that many who were apart of the dev team for the game quit because they saw what was coming. Oh well, too little too late.

I hardly had any issues playing it on my old gen Xbox One. Digital copy of the game worked good for me. Guess not everyone was lucky. I have a Series X now.

Hey mate. I loved the first game so much and had my PS5 ordered ready for the next instalment. However my depression got terrible and I had to quit my job and move house to live with my sister ( she pretty much saved my life) I now have a new job and I'm rebuilding but obviously I don't have the money for a PS5 but I really wanted to join aloy on her new adventure. And this video has eased my mind I don't mind the occasion pop in, hey I completed cyberpunk2077 and actually enjoyed it despite its issues lol. Actually the good news is those Pop-ins can easily be patched and it's not because of the hardware limitations of the ps4 since even the ps5 version of the game is having pop-ins issue. Hopefully they can fix it on the next coming patches.

Just commenting as someone who is just about to finish the game on a slim ps4: I haven't noticed any slowdown or framerate issues even with lots of enemies or really big ones but I often see people comment on framerate drops on other videos that I never noticed so I am admittedly not the best person to judge framerate problems. The pop-in is persistent and is most noticeable when you use the hologlider. Aloy will jump off cliffs and the glider will take a couple seconds to appear. I also notice that campfires and some other objects will occasionally take awhile to load their full detail when you're near them and other textures etc. will do this too (it also happens in cut scenes). Lighting will sometimes take a moment to adjust when I move to a new area (as in an area will remain dark for a few extra seconds before the lights for the area load in). The menu screens have persistent loading issues where it'll take a few moments for it to initially load the outfit/weapon you're looking at and I've noticed that if I change my outfit in the loading screen then put on the one I had on when I first opened the menu the display will show me wearing whatever outfit I put on in between. When I exit the menu I am wearing whatever gear I chose though its just a graphical glitch in the menu. Loading is also probably long compared to ps5 but I wouldn't know as I've not been able to get a ps5. Basically none of the noticeable graphical issues I've noticed affect gameplay, and all will affect immersion to some degree (pretty minor imo but everybody has different feelings on this so ymmv). If you aren't too bothered by some immersion breaking graphics issues the ps4 version of the game is good (and truly it does look gorgeous, not as gorgeous as ps5 obviously, but still great).

Besides being severely unavailable, PS5s in my country goes for crazy prices despite the very little scalper market. Glad I still got my ps4 to play this game even without the next gen fidelity. One big sacrifice is 30fps, possibly with drops here and there since I'm on the slim, but I survived all these years on 30fps so I'll just eat it up.

HAving played HZD on the OG ps4 before getting the pro I remember the immense jump (even more so with the 60FPS boost later on the PS5) but this is outstanding lifting my hat off for Guerrilla Games to be taking care of the people thus far unlucky with PS upgrades! and to you sir for a fine showcasing! The issues I been having on my ps4 pro (still pretty new one at that) is loading its been the biggest issue for me like after talking to Gaia when ever I leave the room I have to wait till the floor on the bottom of the stairs to load in or else I fall under the map then while in combat I get a loading scene 3 times in a row while fighting or as I'm just running around there was also this time after overriding a cauldron as the core went up to surface I fell through the floor to my death and the loading seems to have gotten worse after update

the reason why intro looks good is because its actually not in-game real-time gameplay its a video clip in both base and pro versions, its only real-time in ps5 and most of the important cutscenes are video clips through out the game which is actually a very impressive idea they implemented to maintain a good visual impression without loosing performance in my opinion

This game looks amazing on PS4. There are some glitches in the game, or "popping" as you call it. However, not a dealbreaker really. Most important thing is that FPS seems to hold. By the way, did you run this game on PS4 base or only on PS4 Pro?

It's texture pop in. It means when you show up in a new area and everything looks like it's partially loaded or missing texture to it like it looks like clay without any detail sort of. A glitch is when the game would freeze or there would be something missing or clipping inside another object. Yeah so a glitch isn't the same as a texture problem.

Alot of the pop ins can be pretty well fixed by turning off motion blur and depends if ur choosing to run performance or not... Performance let's ur combat run a little faster and smoother but if u choose texture or whatever it's called the graphics r better but combat is slightly slower... And u want to grab as many medicinal berries and herbs and trees and hunting animals as u possibly can bc any extra goes to ur stash box and u wanna use ur focus quite frequently

On the PS4 slim it's kinda glitchy, when fighting multiple enemies Aloy tends to be stuck in place. When approaching open vistas there's a noticeable lag. At times the audio would just stutter and sometimes just go out. Not satisfied at all. Guess I gotta upgrade to a PS4 pro

Yeah there was definitely some fan noise in places. I should have mentioned that. My ps4 is old and hasn't been cleaned properly in a million years though, and the fan noise wasn't there all the time, maybe 20% of the time at a guess. Hope that helps

Was worried about playing next gen games on PS4 after the whole cyberpunk drama but this looks fine. Since ps5 is better to be called ps4.5. So not a big surprise the game looks so good on the old stuff. Even on the base model. I’ve noticed in another comparison video that quality change is much bigger between ps4 and pro than pro vs ps5. I skip the 5th (4.5th) gen for sure and I keep my pro until a next gen or half gen release. Since I re-pasted the pro with conductonaut liquid metal and upgraded with an ssd it is really a nice little console, loud fan noise is gone also the load times are halved or even shorter. (Base ps4 and slim can’t push the ssd to its limit unlike the pro because of the older sata controller device.) Anyway this game rocks, thx for the upload.

In terms of how it looks I don't have any concerns. What I am concerned about though is load times. What were they like when you fast travelled to places or switched from cinematics to gameplay? I play most games on PC, and load times with some of my games on PS4 does get on my nerves.

You can definitely improve load times if you change internal hard drive for 2.5 SSD. They are now quite cheap.

all PS4 games have shit loadtimes, it uses a HDD and your PC probably has an SSD. SSD loads shit like 10x faster, very affordable now but was kinda expensive when PS4 was initially built so they shipped with HDDs to save money. Look up a guide for switching to SSD on your PS4.

Game looks incredible on the base ps4. You can get better performance by swapping the hdd for sshd. I did that with my ps4 and saw better performance all around even with the ps4 system UI.

Is it really that blurry? Just really got into HZD PC with ultra settings at 4k and I am really wary if trying to play the game on a PS4 is going to seem like a letdown compared to the PC game I fell in love with. There is no justification for a PS5 when you have a gaming PC and two XSX. I hope they get a PC port queued up for a release soon!

that's just KZbin video compression + it probably is showing the video at a lower resolution, like mine is set to auto and it played the video at 720p. Also he likely has motion blur turned on.
