If you move the hog pattern to the left say like aiming around the front shoulder area that would have been devastating unless a hog can run on his hind legs only. Matt great job good combo with that Buck Kicker choke. The hog overlap thing , Matt that 1187 you use is always on my mine, maybe someday i will find a nice used one. I have a 1953 Browning Auto 5 Humpback with a Hastings wardlock barrel and a Remington 870 Fieldmaster with 2 barrels , which is basically the old Remington Express a great shotgun built to take a beating.

I use 22" fixed choke (full) barrel and I get excellent patterns

I think I've got a similar setup, so we may test that at some point and see what kind of results I can get

I find the lead BB to work the best for coyotes. I have had good performance out to 60 yards.
@matttyreeoutdoors2 ай бұрын
We have tested some Hornady Heavy Magnum BB shells as well with some pretty decent performances

That was better than I was thinking. Nice. Question. Have you thought about some squirrel patterning? I am using #6 with the leaves on and in open space I switch to #4. Works good for me. Shots can go from 20 yards out to 60 yards on some of these high points. Southern WV.

I have thought about it, and we have tested a couple shells for small game purposes, but nothing super specific. I definitely wouldn't mind testing some shells for squirrel hunting, so we'll see what I can do

It's not perfect, but that is not too bad a pattern at all. I'd be just fine with that for coyote or pigs, either. Thank you, Matt, for such great content.

Yeah, maybe we can try and fine tune some of those voids with the right choke combo, but overall it definitely wasn't bad

I saw on the danger og channel that that choke and flight control style shells with that wad don't work as well as regular choke
@matttyreeoutdoors2 ай бұрын
They can be a little finicky through some ported chokes, but when you find a combo that works, it typically works really well
@mr.e.21752 ай бұрын
Unless your shooting a bunch of 12 ga shells I don't like ported chokes because when your shooting at game who takes note of recoil?
@matttyreeoutdoors2 ай бұрын
I have personally never noticed any huge difference in recoil with or without porting, so I honestly don't know how much of an effect it porting actually has on recoil impulse
@AbelGuerra-xz3pc2 ай бұрын
The versatight wad isn’t made for full chokes try a ic choke or cylinder next time might help get rid of that big void in the middle of your pattern
@matttyreeoutdoors2 ай бұрын
That isn't always the case. We've tested several shells with the Versatite wad and had some great patterns with tighter chokes. I'm sure we will test these through a more open choke at some point, but based on my experience with them at that wad so far, I honestly don't think we will get any kind of great results from doing it

Try a regular ass mod or IC choke with this Hornady buck! You keep shooting it through these ultra tight chokes, bet you anything you get nicer patterns with less constriction.

Most of the tests we've done with them so far were viewer request, but I do plan on testing them through the full range of regular chokes as well
