The A4 Class 'Bittern' arrived in Margate, at Locomotive Storage's new facility in early June. On the site of the old Hornby warehouse, 'Bittern' looked resplendent during all the hard work to get her situated.

She a beautiful locomotive.I heard her boiler ticket epired, where was flying socmans 2st tender. I been trying to found out were the tender went after it was used in 2010? are they any plans to run it behind flying socman?

Storage facility. Is Bittern not going to be running in future? Great machine. I have several A4 Hornbys, inc a bittern one too.

It will be run in the future, but before that she needs an overhaul, which is not possible at the moment at the works that will take that on, so until they have the space she is being stored in there.

As far as I am aware for the moment it is a closed site, only permitted access and not for public viewing for the time being.

Dear Hornby will you ever make the dominion of Canada A4 in LNER blue when it looked like at the great gathering ever again? because I really don't want to spend over $400 pounds buying a Great Gthering one and number one finding one, I would serieously love to know

Bittern is over 80 years old with a million moving parts, and thousands of rotten pipes that have to run boiling water at 250psi. It’s like Space Shuttle technology. You can’t just run it worn out, it would explode, killing the crew, and disrupt the rail network. Sorry but you are way off making ridiculous comments like that, you don’t have the first idea what you are talking about.

It wasn't pushed, it was pulled! The guys from Allelys Heavy Haulage had special equipment which they used to pull 'Bittern' down the rails.
