The windows are covered on the power car because that's how the crew compartment looks in real life. It's not because they wanted to hide the motor. 😆

Great review Rob! I have one of the LNER class 800 the celebration Scotland edition and I think it’s a great model and given more space to run you can really open them up, smooth running and the lighting is awesome. Can’t wait to see it on your new layout. All the best, Harry 😊👍

I have one too and its so nice! But with a very funny issue, in that the destination boards say Carlisle and Watford Junction, two stations the LNER does jot serve!
@LittleWicketRailway3 ай бұрын
@@harrytodhunter5078 that's ridiculous. Did they ever serve those?
@YorkshireRailways3 ай бұрын
@@LittleWicketRailway LNER used to go to Carlisle but the particular route Carlisle to Watford junction would put the LNER on the west coast mainline. A tiny hiccup I imagine the destination board stickers are shared between the LNER models and the GWR version.
@harrytodhunter50783 ай бұрын
@@LittleWicketRailwayVery rarely the services are diverted via Carlisle but it wouldn’t be on the destination boards as the trains only stop for a crew change, and no passengers can get on or off. I think its just someone at Hornby didn’t do enough research and nobody spotted it. The other LNER 800s are correct though, One of them is Leeds and Peterborough.

Great vid mate, these are local to me as well and as i model modern image GWR id love one. Very expensive though so sadly i cant justify it. It does look very nice though, the GWR finish doesnt match other GWR products such as the Bachmann 150s 158s and Hornby's own Mk3s and HSTs!

Cheers mate. Do you have a GWR 158? They're impossible to find and sell for silly money.
@timbervalleyproductions2 ай бұрын
@@LittleWicketRailway Yes I do and a GWR 150 as well. The 158 was £206 from Rails (or maybe TMC?) I think, which ive DCC fitted and the 150 was £250 from Footplate in Kidder. Not DCCd it yet. He said he might have more out back so maybe worth a trip if you're after one 🤷♂️

@@LittleWicketRailway Yeah definitely a good investment. Bachmann are producing a new 170 (or so I was told at Key Model World Live) so hopefully they do the WMR 170s and 172s. I know Dapol are doing the WMR 323s.

Another great and informative video on this train pack. £400 for the whole train, given current prices of locos and coach rolling stock may be a bargain but still high. Two decoders for whole train but at least there’s lighting in the dummy car. Look forward to a layout update if there could be one; even if it’s just what’s being planned lol time always runs out and other things interfere. All best Marc from Leighton Buzzard

I like the decision to put the motor in the baggage end of the unit even though it would have been easier for hornby to have their standard cheap motor bogies. Just for extra clarity I believe that some units have blanked out windows in real life were you put your bikes and bags. But I was wondering if you were saying that 800008 didn’t have this and hornby used it any way or you were just stating this is were the motor is located

I have to explain again, class 800s are not like HSTs you do not have power and dummy cars. The 800s driving cars are unpowered it's the intermediate cars that are the power cars with the engines, and the blanked windows are crew/catering area there is no power equipment there.
@LittleWicketRailway3 ай бұрын
I understand that that's how the real class 800 works, but the model does have a 'power' car, where they've conveniently hidden the motor behind the blanket out windows, and effectively a 'dummy' car because despite requiring a decoder it doesn't contain a motor.
@IainDavies-z2l3 ай бұрын
Yes I do think that it is very convenient on the real thing to have that blanked area where on the model you can hide the motor. I'm sure it would not have looked right if Hornby tried putting the motor in one of the power cars.
