This was a great interview! George was both knowledgeable and friendly. He’s a good representative of your brand! I’m excited about this system. So many cool possibilities. If there was one unrealistic dream I would have for the future of the system, it would be a way to triangulate the location of a model train. Imagine multiple fixed Bluetooth antennas on a layout. The loco could communicate with the antennas and the smart device could calculate the relative position of the train in real time. Then that could be overlayed on the track layout. Might be totally infeasible, but a man can dream! 😆 Cheers!

Thanks for watching! First off, is Generic KZbin User a name you chose? If so we take our hats off to you! We love that blue sky thinking that's what this community is all about; ideas, creativity and passion 🙂 Mike and the team are big fans of George and loved having him on the podcast. We did think about having both George and Sam from the Hornby team in the same video, but we thought we might break the Internet 🤣🤣

Great episode, very timely, George and Hornby are legends, well done, please continue to provide updates for specifically HM7000, to keep the user base up to date, and importantly the critics informed. Very honest episode, hitting all the topics currently being discussed.

Mike, that was a simply excellent interview. George was very approachable and empathetic. The idea of control from the digital crown of a watch and/or an Alexa is great to get the creative juices flowing. I had thought I’d love to see a simple bluetooth physical controller, with a physical dial, for us old fuddy duddies who struggle with the lack of feel on a screen. But the crown on my apple watch will do nicely instead! Hope George feels his efforts have been appreciated by us modellers. They most certainly have been! Fantastic little bit of bio as well to go from designing supermarket signage to an innovative system like hmdcc. Every blessing.

Thank you Hormby the interview was realy helpful and entertaining. George has done a fantastic job really looking forward to the Android version coming out, I am running Lion with the default A1 /.A3 sound file 😂 super decoder I like the AFC function....can to tell me how I can set up the AFC functions for the various sounds when running or stationery. The new ideas sound awesome .I looking forward to when the new smaller TXS decoders are available so I can fit them to my existing Hornby fleet of locos .😁👍👍

This gentleman has been so helpful with my issue with dcc supply problems. I hope he can sort out what makes these decoders not work on dcc control, while TTS does. He is a credit to Hornby.

@@HornbyModelRailways Why didn't you put on the HM7000 pages that the Android app would be significantly behind the ios app before launch? Or to put it another way, why did you take money from consumers for products they would be unable to use for a significant time?

What about the person who has his old train set coming out of the closet after 40 odd years and wants to get up and running on a board 1.2 mtr by 3.6 mtr with mainly Hornby stock and one “White Pass loco and 4 carriages “ to go up an elevated track?

Hi, I was a huge Hornby fan, now I find the products to be very expensive for what you get, £350+ for a loco that doesn’t come with sound is very poor for the Hobby, the Dublo steam train product have plastic tenders, that’s just wrong for the money, the Railroad products are old mouldings from decades ago, seriously overpriced, quality control of new products isn’t great, the new HM7000 system looks ok, a Hornby power transformer is recommended at an additional cost, just feels like the customer is being fleeced in so many ways. Thank god retailers have lower prices and sales so modellers get some kind of value for money.

Some retailers have very good deals on Hornby products. I bought recent locomotives for less than 100£ like the O1 and J15. Just a matter of keeping your eyes open...
@StormmyStormmy
@StormmyStormmy Жыл бұрын
@@phil36310 I agree with you, I have picked up some bargains from some retailers, there is no way on earth I would buy directly from Hornby, their prices are shocking in my opinion, if their prices were lower they would sell more of them, I’m sure modellers are watching what they can spend on items, it’s a very very expensive hobby, Bachmann have lost their minds with the prices of their items in my opinion.
@phil36310

@@StormmyStormmy Yes Stormmy, No more overpriced Bachmann chineese junk for me anymore. I became very picky to buy items and I'm glad that my model railway is completed so I do not need more stuff to enjoy the layout. I'm not a collector either. My trains are workhorses and I must say my Hornby's steam locomotives do the job very well compared with the always stalling Bachmann rubbish. But also, living in France, trains in the EU are more than double price than in the UK. Yes, the mechanics are better but then you get these (stupid) rubber traction tires that wear out or get hard. Nothing's perfect in this world and greed seems to be the norm these days. Finally I do believe that less is more - but I'm a lone wolf I guess...Cheers

@@phil36310 I will never buy a Bachmann steam loco, they don't float my boat, i have no issues buying a Hornby steam loco, they are ok, i have quite a few new and old, Bachmann diesels are good, again i have many of them, i just think Bachmann are beyond greedy, classic example....the windhoff mpv came out 8ish plus years ago , they were £80 - £100 and less on certain deals, now the new ones use the same mouldings and probably the same 3 pole motor, the non sound variant goes for £270 the sound fitted variant goes for £350, both discounted at the retailers, this is shocking pricing in my opinion, i got one last year brand new for £130 delivered, i got a sound decoder from road and rails for £109 including a speaker upgrade, how can Bachmann justify their eye watering prices! Are modellers still buying their class 37 locos now Accurascale have ultra scale version out now? for me to buy a class 37 Bachmann diesel it has to be a deluxe model dirt cheap.
