Nice loco Sam. If your interested 614 spent a couple of years as works shunter and demonstrator at Pecketts Bristol works before being sold to Colvilles steel works in Lanarkshire in Scotland. She survived in service until the early 1960's when The British Steel Corporation withdrew her. After a few years dumped in a siding she was brought for preservation and had several owners and is now 'plinthed' and non running at the Sittingbourne & Kemsley Light Railway in Kent, in a nice blue livery.

I great wee loco released within the Hornby 100th Year Anniversary. I acquired my Limited Edition # 831/2000 model for £98.99 last week (Feb 5th) from Kernow Model Rail Centre. I just checked before typing this and they still have more than 10 in stock if you are looking one for yourself or as a gift. If you get one of the angled plastic plate stands, you could have your Peckett Plaque sitting out on display. Otherwise if you like a cuppa from your army mess kit mug, then this would be about the right size and shape to use as a coaster, lol. As for the loco a good review by you Sam as usual and I am pleased with the models livery printing, details and running.

@@fredtedstedman Just googled those. Wow, they're so cheap! Thanks for info! I love assembling my own models. And can I put an engine inside and make them run? Or are they just static? The wheels look plastic.
@fredtedstedman3 жыл бұрын
@@RHaenJarr The range of kits goes back to the 60's when you could buy them (AIRFIX) in a little plastic bag , with the instructions stapled to the top , for 2 shillings or 10p. they are old and need a bit of care but with careful glueing you can make the wheels and motion move on a pug . people used to motorise them before the HORNBY ones were created , but I think it was rather complicated . Good luck , I have had many happy hours building the range . I sent my friend in Japan a Pug at christmas ( He is a Micro Modeller !) and he loved it .

I've really enjoyed this one Sam - infact, it might be one of my favourite reviews of yours yet 👍. Best model of the year so far lol 😂! It is a shame that some details aren't metal, or that they have been painted in a plasticy colour. I quite like the fact that they have included a certificate (I quite like showing them on display) & a builders plate - it is quite unusual, but I wish they had made a bracket on the back so you could hang it up! Other than that, I think it is a really good quality model and it performs well too. The packaging looks fab too. Thanks for this one! 👍

@@davidstrains4910 I think they are well liked by everyone as the non limited edition versions are a good quality and price and have various interesting liveries. It's a great loco for shunting layouts or to put in a goods yard on a layout which is their natural habitat.

@@bentullett6068 yeah I suppose that could be it but I just find it funny how people like something so small look at the Ruston hornby did last year everyone kind of went crazy for that and dare I say it the rocket as well everyone went crazy about that yet when something else like the W1 which is yet to be released only a few people got really excited about that compared to the smaller locomotives which seem to get everyone excited
@bentullett60683 жыл бұрын
@@davidstrains4910 I like the smaller sized locomotives both in model and real life. I was recently suprised how many of these little industrial locomotives still survive when I was looking in the recent 2020 Britains locomotive guide

Will you be reviewing the “Bear” open back Peckett that’s just been released?
@toniandbazduffy97033 жыл бұрын
The pecketts are great Sam. There real quality even though the motor is 3 pole it's very quiet and slow speed for shunting couldn't be any better. On another issue I recently purchased the cmx track cleaner. As you have a large layout it would be very handy. They are very good the best track cleaner I ever had. Can't recommend them enough. Bye for now basil.

Great review of the Peckett I would love if the white part got paint in black. As a think, it would make the model look better and then I was ordered it. Love super details 0-4-0 train as I order the Andrew Barclay ‘No.10’ in NCB lined black. But love the look of the R3702 Class W4 Peckett 0-4-0ST "Daphne" in Tytherington Stone Co. purple. But R3702 Class W4 Peckett 0-4-0ST "Daphne" in Tytherington Stone Co. purple was announced back in 2019 and hope we get it soon as I want to see a finished model and there if look good I will there put I order in for one. Please explain why sprung buffers are an issue? Most rollingstock dont have them and I dont see what they would add to the enjoyment of the running of a model
@highbrookendmodelrailway3 жыл бұрын
Sprung buffers are a nice touch, it's just nice to have an extra, more realistic feature, even though they might not be functional when using traditional tension locks. If you modify the couplings to use magnets or close couplers, which are produced by other companies, then the buffers may actually spring back when coupling depending on the product used and how close the couplings go. It is a nice feature, even though it may not be used. Like a "roast chicken" setting on a microwave, you may not actually use it, but it's nice to have it there!
@SamsTrains3 жыл бұрын
Absolutely - it's the same with any detail... ultimately pointless, but a representation of the real thing... so that's the point! I say such omissions should be reflected in the price, which is why I usually mention it! Thanks for watching, Sam :)

Hi Sam, Very nice loco. Love it ! A bit hairy... but a fantastic performer and amazing puller even with the 3-pole motor. It just needs a 'stay alive' to cross the points on slow speed for aren't they shunters prototypical ? I would give this an overall 9/10. (You're a bit harsh here imho). Thanks for the nice review. Greetings,
